Tom Mackintosh

Was having a neb on the KNCB site to see if there was any squad news for Netherlands World Cup warm up games this week and when Bas de Leede might depart. Netherlands played Scotland in a warm up game yesterday, and our very own Tom Mackintosh scored 56 and took 4 catches. Good on him 😀

He’s off to Zimbabwe as well for Scotland

What a massive waste of talent.

Bet he wishes his dad was an ex player.

Are you suggesting mustard getting picked ahead of him made him pack it in?

Because surely unless you know otherwise it's just as likely he was thinking of jacking it in so we accelerated mustard's development.

Both look exceptional talents like, shame to see mackintosh duff it.

Could it be the emergence of Ollie Robinson and knowing he is likely to play 2nd fiddle for quite a while without really getting a go?

It must have been a tough one to take seeing Clark get the gloves ahead of him in the 50 over stuff when Robinson was away in 100 stuff, so I think it’s more of a whats in front of him decision rather than what is coming up behind.

He played a lot of Scotland matches around that time. Mustard took the gloves for the seconds, but then Mackintosh didn't seem to get them back when he returned. Must have sensed he had dropped down the pecking order and would be unlikely to play county cricket.

He was off with Scotland that's why Clark took the gloves.

He scored a half century and kept when he was done with Scotland.

Makes you wonder what the reason was.
did he think being an Estate Agent was more lucrative? Financially more stable (a sportsman retires much earlier for example). Maybe he just didn't fancy a cricketer's lifestyle, travelling, never quite knowing if you're going to play or not and so on.

Still, that was a shame, I thought he did great with the gloves but less so with the bat. He's a miss, but best wishes to him.

It’s a pity. I thought he was a very good prospect. I reckon Mustard will come good though. Assuming he’s now 2nd choice keeper, does anyone know will be next in line after him?

Not sure a career in real estate after a uni degree is an estate agent mind. 🤷‍♂️
