Whens he here?

Heard on commentary that Cook's last game is the current Kent game.

Will Latham be here for Glamorgan on 19 June?

Gadgee who runs the Kent shop (lovely fella, bit of a killeen clone) says Latham is a top lad and will be absolutely top draw for us.

Played for our seconds for a while, does he have a link to this area?

Was the first player to come over on the Canterbury (New Zealand) scholarship set up by our former kiwi Paul Wiseman. Played for Gateshead Fell in the premier league and a bit for the Academy and 2nds during the week. Iam not sure but I think he may still hold the record for the amount of runs scored in a season in the premier league.
The rumor was we where going to sign him a couple of seasons ago for a couple of months but we where skint so he played for South Shields instead.
Already knows and has played with plenty of the Durham lads so will fit in straight away.

Debuts when t20 kicks off.....I think

Stuff I read gave me the impression he'd be playing before that.

I'd like us to try and make it a more permanent thing. I've always been a fan of having an overseas player for all season and all formats, for a number of years.

Suppose that stems from having the likes of Boon, Diva, Benks etc but if it works, why change it!

Sounds sensible ... and maybe Cook would have done better with a longer stint giving him time to adjust.

Was always when Cook joins south Africa for the test series.

Which is now, isn't it? Today was his last game - so hopefully the club have things in place for Latham to play a week Monday.
No cos Jennings will still be here, as they'll leave tro

The tests don't start until the 6th of July. There is a t2o series before the test series.

I'm aware of that, but Cook has now left. So he needs replacing.
Where's that from then?

At the start of the season, it was said he'd be here until the South Africa test series which would see him be around for 2 more championship games.

Pretty stupid preparation for a test series being sat on your arse when you could play another 8 days cricket.

Marty mentioned it in commentary of the Kent game.

SA play the Lions in a four day warm-up on 29 June, still seems early to be leaving but that's what I've heard.

Our next game against Glamorgan ends on 22 June, so I suppose they'll want him in the party more than a week before their first game.

Might just have a fortnights worth of nets. Definitely needs it.

During his spell at S Shields he had visa problems and had to return to NZ mid season.

From N Echo ( July 2013)
"The loss of New Zealand international Tom Latham could not have come at a worse time for struggling Shields, with the Kiwi heading home a month early because of visa complications."

He needs practise sitting on his arse 'cos that's what he's going to be doing throughout the test series.
