Tom Cannon bid in - now signed for Sheff U.

The Football Manager players amongst us have known of Simic for roughly three years  looked next in line in RB Salzburgs line of unearthing good forwards (Haaland, Sesko, Adeyemi etc) but their current star forward Karim Konate seems to have jumped ahead of him.

In terms of ceilings/resale value, I reckon Simic would be the better choice, albeit may be harder to convince. If we could get Cannon and keep him fit he'd do a job though.
We should sign Freddy Adu anarl then

I agree it’ll more than likely be one striker in but although I’m sure they’d like to offload that number of players, at this stage it might be a problem finding a club to take them.
I’d keep Ekwah mind.
I'd keep Ekwah anarl, maybe Reggie can get him motivated, and if he can, he'd be a very good midfielder

Only 35 still, crazy to think he was the go to youth signing 20 years back

Cannon would be decent, but I agree regarding the injury type maybe going against the price we'd be signing him for, we've had our fill of injury prone lads

maybe him and Browne are pals, probably the best period of his career for goals at Preston playing just in front of Browne

Why are people thinking respected journalists are just going to make a lie up and say we have bidded if we haven’t. Usually the club are good at briefing our own journos if it’s not true, hence the echo telling us Mendy wasn’t close in the beginning and the same with simic being here for talks not a medical

Our own journos have even reported this bid and haven’t shot it down. I highly doubt it’s a “smoke screen”

He’s not injury prone? He had one bad injury and I’m sure it’s been sorted? Only had one more injury after that. Hardly injury prone

It's all about convincing him that this is the place to be, he hasn't made great choices up to now Leicester was certainly a bad move and he hasn't played enough football in 2 years.

If an extra grand here or there convinces him that Luton or Sheff Utd is the place to be then so be it, he's going to miss out on a great opportunity.
I think the strong start here.

The poor start at Luton and the competition at Sheff United should stand us in good stead.

Hopefully.

Couple of big standard injuries these days and all players get labelled with it

You’re right I hadn’t. We all have opinions about players mate, I just think Simmic at the level he has played at looking at him and the way he plays he is imho a better option, I hope the club do hence already soeaking to him. Personally another better option than Cannon is Hardie at Plymouth who I would think we could get for a similar fee.
I think Hardie is decent as well, but he's much older than Cannon and has also only had 1 good Championship season.

I don't think so. No-one is paying 7 million for a player that's had one decent season as a loanee, had a chronic back injury since and his last two managers haven't been interested in giving him a game. Also they need money in and wages out.
Idah went to celtic for 10 million after a decent loan in Scotland and is older . Strikers demand a premium

If our parsimonious club are looking to spend £5-6m on a single player you can be re-assured they have done a deep, deep dive into his stats going back several years. They must be very confident he can do what they want him to do. I accept any purchase is a gamble but I would bet the odds are in our favour.

I genuinely think we’ve been after him for the last two seasons now too

I still can't get my head around a potential 5-7 million for this lad mind.

If we want someone who is decent but still relatively unproven at this level, and has the risk of a dodgy injury history we need to be looking at a Broadhead style signing, who went for 1.5 million, granted he was a bit older at 24 when he was sold.

At 5-7 million I'd be wanting an established Champo striker with a track record.

Doesn't exist. not at that fee level.

he has 11 goals and 3 assists in 41 champ games. I wouldn’t say that’s too bad. Also it’s just very similar to the Simms deal
