I suspect that in terms of investment Ellis has matched what he could realistically expect to get back for the club and has stopped there. Looks that way to me anyhow.

Yeah. He clearly had a limit without any prior due diligence. He's obviously benefitted, even if it's just as a gateway to new markets for his other businesses. NOBODY spends that much money for nowt.

Seems reasonable assertation, although depending on what happens this season the club could be worth more than £130Mil, with the new TV deal or more worryingly far f***ing less.

Perhaps. I'd agree that at times it's looked as if he's extracting revenge and is actively taking the piss out of them, yet this season he's invested a fortune.
He's always backed his managers, the mags are too blinkered to admit it though. Until Shelvey every signing still fit to an enforced top down policy. He couldn't give a shit what the fans think.

I think every Swede on here, and his cat, said he wouldn't do well in the Premier League. It was obvious from the beginning. Dick's decision (?), but perhaps a bit forced since he didn't get the signings he wanted. You can't blaim our scouting network to be top notch either....

could very well be this and/or congerton being useless

Sometimes we look like complete asses as a football club. The administration is appalling. We obviously signed him on a 1 year deal without an option to return and our name will be mud
Conversely, teams will be clapping their hands at the prospect of offloading the shite that they don't want onto us with no hope of us returning them

That's the trouble when you have managers for a few months then get rid of them. When will the club learn their lesson? If your going to bring in a manager give him a f***ing chance to work with his players instead of bringing someone else in and then forcing them to work with the players they don't want. If Sam was in from the start we probably wouldn't be in this mess, I just hope Sam stays regardless of us staying up or going down, we need stability not jump back on the merry-go-round.

After congers brought him in, dick shortly started with his his comments about not bringing in players we need - just players that were available.

I think Matthew, Ola and yedders were the source of that assessment.
ah right I remember the comment being made

on his debut subs appearance i honestly thought he looked ok, won balls in the middle that we had not been doing, playing simple passes and making himself space for a return, since then he seems to have taken over our regular invisible man role and i really cannot see a place or role for him in the team as it is right now.

In fairness to the club, non of us now how the negotiations go, you are assuming we just forgot to put in a clause about sending him back.

Wouldnt be that shocked if we tried to put an option in but Rennes said no, full year or nothing.
Club asked Advocaat, do you really want him as we wont be able to return him.
Advocaat said yes i really want him.

The return option only looks poor because he is shit. If we'd both agreed that he could be returned/recalled had started the season on fire and scored a few goals and the Rennes decided to recall him, we'd all be up in arms saying the club is shit for not locking him down to full year.

If there is one thing that PF doesn't have enough of, it is hypothetical conversations. I love them.

Also when folk imagine they're the manager and make up motivational talks.

Well done Magaret Byrne and team. We know how to negotiate a contract like!!!!

Why are we trying to return him if we agreed a 12 month contract? Hmmmm
