Toasties

Had me cheese n onion toastie and put mustard on one of the slices. Decent but not sure it added anything. I’ve got some jalapeño relish, chilli jam and some caramelised onion chutney so will try a dollop of one the morrow.

As good as airfryers are, it’ll just run out Shirley? Need a proper toastie maker to seal it up.

These are good if you want to do them in the air fryer.

Tuna and cheese.

Some boyk said on a different thread they’d only just learnt the tuna cheese combo.

Some people live under a rock.
I can’t get on with it. I’ve tried, I really have but it’s just not very nice. I used to think it was a simple case of tinned tuna not being nice when warm but I make a thoroughly delicious tuna puttanesca so it’s not that.

Bought a new toastie maker t’other day - combination toastie/panini /waffle thing.

I will hurtle towards obesity with a smile on my face.

wouldnt the top push down on the sarnie and the filling would still squidge out the sides? a toastie machine seals the edges.
No, you just let it rest under its own weight. Not sealing the edges doesn’t create an inedible rim.
It’s not the level. It’s the fact that proper toasty machines envelope the product inside. A big of leakage but not much.
Proper toasties machines also cut them in half, which I don’t like. I used to have a full slice toastie machine back in the 80s but every one I’ve seen since seems to cut them in half, so I just use the George.

I like making my own, bit of bread flour, baking powder, salt and yoghurt in a bowl, mix it up with a bit of water into a sloppy dough. Pour in into a frying pan and while it starts to cook throw whatever ingredients you like into it, fold it over in half, cook a bit longer and jobs a good un. Cheese, tomatoes, chives and ham always works well but you can put anything you like in them

Just made one with wotsits and cottage cheese

Would not recommend

I found about puttanesca on here what a find that was. Quick easy and delicious.

Why don’t you try a tuna puttanesca toastie 🤔😁

Had a revelation today. A tin of Aldi ravioli with grated cheese on white bread done on the George. Cheese welded it together and prevented much leakage. A little more white pepper would have perfected it.
Probably the best toasty I have had in 40 years of having them.

Good shout, I just hate cleaning the bloody toastie maker  I even tried them bags you put the sandwich in and pop in the toaster.....terrible, and don't melt the cheese. Toastie maker it is then. Cheese all ower the springs at the back and all sorts
Stick it in the microwave for a minute first. Then pop the bag in the toaster, works every time.
