Its mental how clueless people really are. I'm expecting a 'we get 40k a week, where is that money going'.Given we’re losing £100k every week and they’re covering that loss, they’re doing a particularly shit job of it if that is their aim
Someone replied ‘he’s a billionaire and it’s not my money’ the other day. I mean I’m not a big fan of the billionaire class myself but hawayIts mental how clueless people really are. I'm expecting a 'we get 40k a week, where is that money going'.
Thick as mince
Didn't some say that the answer to becoming a millionaire owning a football club was to start as a billionaire? That was literally the truth for Ellis Short.Someone replied ‘he’s a billionaire and it’s not my money’ the other day. I mean I’m not a big fan of the billionaire class myself but haway![]()
There's nee surprise mind the off the field stuff they've been missing out on a fuckton of money over the past few seasons. It's why people have been complaining so much they can see the model and how vital off the field income is to the "model" it's why it needs sorting once and for all. Hopefully this new bloke is a step in that direction. Its mental how clueless people really are. I'm expecting a 'we get 40k a week, where is that money going'.

The off field stuff defo needs sorting, but it won’t make an earth shattering difference in truth. We aren’t leaving millions behind by having a substandard club shop. There's nee surprise mind the off the field stuff they've been missing out on a fuckton of money over the past few seasons. He should be talking up the players we have.

Tony Mowbray: 'I'll always want more - but I must stay aligned to the club's model'
Tony Mowbray admits he will always want more - but concedes he must remain aligned with Sunderland's overarching recruitment model.www.thenorthernecho.co.uk
It's alot more than club shop stuff I'd argue, I wouldn't like to know how much we've lost out on though because of kits and stuff. I've been in the store multiple times now during these kit launches and it's been absolutely rammed. Just feels like we're missing out on money the engagement is there from fans it' really should be like taking candy from a baby but stuff like the shop, not having stuff for big games like wembo, the concourses being an absolute chore to use all of this if rectified would see income rise. The off field stuff defo needs sorting, but it won’t make an earth shattering difference in truth. The irony of the situation is I believe Mowbray’s comments were in part made to keep the fans onside. As in Mowbray’s saying Look I’d like to bring in a couple of top quality top end championship players but I have to accept the club won’t do it that way.
However if the side struggle to replicate last seasons form and are not challenging the top six it’s the fans who will in effect get Mowbray the sack.
Once people lose patience it’s always the managers fault and it’s him who’ll carry the can.
As soon as the crowd turn it’s only a matter of time until the manager gets the sack.
Totally agree on the areas where we could do much better, but it will be dwarfed by tv revenue (primarily) and season ticket salesIt's alot more than club shop stuff I'd argue, I wouldn't like to know how much we've lost out on though because of kits and stuff. They're taking a punt, just like SD did and hope it pays off.Given we’re losing £100k every week and they’re covering that loss, they’re doing a particularly shit job of it if that is their aim
That doesn’t fit with the evidence, though. They continue to invest in the club. There’s not even a suggestion that they’re looking to sell. That’s not at all what we saw from Donald. Should they be pushing the club even further beyond what it can naturally sustain? They're taking a punt, just like SD did and hope it pays off.
Why are you being negative before a ball has even been kicked?
Speakman himself said promotion is the aim and will always been the aim. Splashing money on players that are over valued isn't the way to go, it hasn't worked for us previously and bringing in potential and developing them is something to be encouraged and admired.
We'll go up this season.
The cynic in me still thinks it's politics from Mowbray. He's been around the block enough to know when he's been played by the press, so surely isn't naive enough to fall for it. He could quite easily have pinched it in the bud by giving the generic 'looking forward to what these lads can do' type of answers.Slightly better spin on it from Wilson I guess. And if I squint I can view what TM was trying to say in a positive light. However there are some incredibly clumsy bits. He really needs to be more careful.
He isn't untouchable. If anything last season showed these players can get results and they'll certainly put in a performance. Mowbray has players available to him that 90% of the manager's in the league would be happy to have in their squad. Once the window closes the onus is on him to get results, that is what he is paid to do.So what is he saying here then..
That he wants more, he has bigger ambitions but because we gave him a job he’s simmered them down to be aligned with the club.
Last year was a good year, a season way past our expectations. If this one doesn’t start off the same it will be interesting to see how people react, especially Tony.
Alex Neil didn’t want to work the way of the club so bailed at the first opportunity. I don’t think that will be the case here but it will be interesting what Tony comes out with if that’s the case.
They are not weaker as they have all improved, that's the key point here. This time last season there were question marks about whether many of them could even hack the Championship. Players like Hume, Neil, Ekwah, Clarke etc. have all come into their own and they'll continue to get better the more games we play.Gipetto, I am not being negative mate. I see a coach keep going on about a difference in approach to the club. My concern is that our best player Amad has gone back, Baath I think is definitely away and probably our third best player Clarke from last season could also leave. The 11 that started most games last season in my view is weaker as of right now, losing both Baath and Clarke will be an added huge blow. Question for you: Do you think our starting 11 is a significantly better than last season with us targeting a top two finish as per KS interview?

You have to wonder what the players think of it. Obviously we don’t know what type of relationship he has with them, I'm assuming a positive one. Although it's not a severe as Moyes' relegation battle interview, it still has that err of this squad isn't good enough about it. We all know where we're short and where we are top heavy. However I suspect the imbalance is because they expected 3 or 4 to have moved on to other clubs by now. The building of the promotion squad isn't complete yet imo, but the expectations set by last seasons fantastic efforts have led many to think we are real contenders.I agree, I think he did the same towards the end of last season at just the right time and is doing the same now to influence with as little possible blowback.
Done a cracking job with coaching players and has brought on some individuals brilliantly, not sure why he isn't focused on that instead of some random belief that he wants to be managing at the top or buying the best players, which no club in this division does by the way.
Maybe it was just him chatting and he meant little by it, but he strikes me as a wily chap who knows the media and the supporters.
I dare say he knows a great deal more about player psychology than me but if I were at the club, I wouldn't be over the moon to hear him say that we're not getting the better players.
