TM accepts we are buying players for future

I don’t agree with that.

Personally I enjoy reading other views as it makes me think about mine. Although @Steve F has wildly unpopular and sometimes schizophrenic opinions I still read and value them. As long as they are not personally offensive then it’s all good!

Back on topic though. I think Speakman is doing a cracking job, but he (and fans) needs to be patient with Mowbray given the cards he is dealing to him. Let’s enjoy the incremental improvements and see where we are at.

That said, Mowbray has made mistakes at home, particularly in midfield. Playing Pritchard and Embo as box to box will never work and is stupidity.

Against Stoke he started with Pritchard CM when Ekwah, Michut and O’Nien were on the bench. We got humped on the counter as a result of being to open tactically.

Generally, being too open at home was the main reason we struggled to get results. That’s on Mowbray.

I also love the man and I want us to back him through good and bad. I do wish he would stay quiet about some topics but that’s just his nature. No one is perfect…except me. ;)

Whilst I assume it’s tongue in cheek, would be good to here what you think where the topics where I made my schizophrenic views?

Agree with all of this. He's done a good job but he is open to criticism himself. He will never get us promoted playing the way he does, we need to tighten up at times and keep a clean sheet every now and then.

They change like the weather... speakman in, speakman out, speakman in, speakman out.

Yes he did, listen to the last few minutes of his interview in May…. KS says “we want to be challenging for the top two in the league”
Speakman is a smart man and picks his words carefully. If he is saying that then he believes our upcoming transfers in the next month will make the difference. What position he wants and what we get are 2 separate things though.

Not many Sunderland fans will be upset at expectations of top 10 with a push for the playoffs. Regardless, Mowbray needs to up his game tactically if we are to make a push for those higher positions this year. There is some serious competition.

Certainly is, hence in my humble opinion as of yet we haven’t signed the players that make a top two finish a realistic proposition

Show patience as most of the transfer business is done at the end of the window. If he did say that, then Speakman has unrealistic expectations or he has a few aces up his sleeve.

He said himself he took the job knowing that was going to be the case yet also feels the need to come out with that, really poor from Mowbray that just trying to protect himself and playing up to the fans.
He waffles. Just goes off at tangents. His media conferences are mad. Hope he does well and we’ll all be happy but his overall managerial record is not even average.

We played some good football last season and currently have some very good players in the books so let’s see what happens. 🙏

I've been spending a couple of hours in the Hilton bar chatting with a couple of decent Ipswich fans (to be fair, most of them
are). They would love to be doing the kind of stuff we are in terms of recruitment. They don't think they're anywhere near being able to. These lads know enough to rave about Chris Right, do they watch a lot of football

We must be doing something right if fans of other clubs are taking notice.

May 23rd interview 11mins 20sec “We want to be challenging the top two we don’t want to settling for the play offs
Nope the exact quote was ‘we want to be challenging at the top of the league. No one’s satisfied with getting into the playoffs’. He’s saying that we want to be right in the mix and we aren’t gonna be patting ourselves in the backs for just being there. At no point does he say that top two is our specific target. With a budget that is only six biggest at very best, he’s smart enough to know he can’t expect that.
