But i think bent should be dropped for gyan(if fit) against wolves.
Bent was poor last night and although he has been canny for us in the last 18 months i think the wellbeck and gyan partnership has great potential.

I agree, until Bent gets back to 100% fitness there's no need to rush him. He'd have been on the bench last night had Gyan not been done in.

canny? he hasnt been canny hes been great

On last nights display I would say without doubt that Wellbeck brings far more to the table than Bent, holds a ball up, heads, runs with the ball and can score. Darren is poor at all but scoring and he is miss firing at the moment, however, I’m not suggesting we drop Bent, he is a goal scorer and will always score goals. When we have all three back, hopefully on Saturday I see no reason why we cant play all three, I would love it. Play Bent in his best position, main striker, centre of field on the shoulder of the centre backs, his role, to score goals. Play Gyan with him and Wellbeck on the left, I think Gyan and Wellbeck are good enough to rotate so when Danny comes inside Gyan moves out, 3 strikers who can cause havoc and score goals. So it would be a 4-4-2 reverting to 4-3-3 when we have the ball.

Midfield would need to drop one to bring back Gyan and keep both Bent and Wellbeck and for me it’s a no brainier, Henderson needs a rest. Don’t know if it’s the speculation, 25mil price tag, England call up or just a dip in form but he is a shadow of what he was. With Wellbeck on the left I would keep Zenden right and play Richardson with Cattermole.

Tbh I think the Gyan/Bent partnership has great potential. Be nice to see them together for a while so we can judge. Welbeck will be back to Man U eventually.

Welbeck and Gyan. keep Bent on the bench and if we are struggling give him half an hour. I think Welbeck and Gyan are far better at holding the ball up which we will need next weekend

Absolutely not, Bent scores goals, Gyan is starting to show us his ability so lets have them both playing!

Id play steed for richardson but aye...

Benty needs a bit of time to get back into things.....Gyan and Welbeck up front, Benty on the bench......

Bent and Gyan to start -- knowing that they have a pissed off 19 yr old lad in top form just dropped to the bench to accomodate the pair of them upfront

I'd say bent and Gyan are the future, obviously, so they should be given time to develop. But Bent should also be given time to get back to full fitness so Gyan Welbeck Saturday, and for as long as it takes for Bent to get fully better, using him as an impact sub in the meantime.

Much as I love Bent it only underlined last night how complete a striker Gyan is, he seems to be able to get into the finishing positions whilst being a very competent playmaker, so it's like we have the benefits of both 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 when he's playing; whereas Bent is a finisher, and that alone. His first touch and control are terrible, he slowed down several attacks last night, and whilst he is coming back into fitness this has always been a part of his game.

That said with the space that Gyan should be able to make for him with his hold up play, allowing Bent to run onto balls and get into those positions, I'm sure he'll be scoring plenty again over the season.

wtf? bent and gyan should both play if theyre fit. simple as that. how anyone can say bent should be sat on the bench is incredible. gyan scores a few goals and suddenly it seems like bent is shite/forgotten

WTF

Bent when he needs to is good at holding up the play and linking up play, but 90% of his game is just playing on the defence's shoulders which means he isn't involved in the buildup as much as the other striker in the team. It works and he scores goals (and also creates space for our buildup play as he keeps the defenders occupied).

And how the fuck is he miss firing? Bar a few snap shots 90% of the balls he has had have been 2 foot above his head, which is one area he struggles with (ie heading balls that he cannot reach...).

His first touch and control are terrible, he slowed down several attacks last night

So he gets wrong for not holding the ball up, then gets wrong when he does.

The only attacks he slowed down where when he was holding up the ball (as it was going nowhere) to bring in other team members to the attack.

Darren Bent doesn't score for one match, after 18 months of being a f***ing revelation, and he should be dropped.

Embarrassing :oops::oops:
