Time for a woman manager? (No specific suggestion)

I don't think it's a question of different standard, it's a completely different sport. I think someone moving from the women's game to the men's game would be similar to an American football coach switching to football. But ...........
There is no reason why a woman couldn't come through the system as a manager , work her way up and get a job in our club. I wouldn't have a single issue with it. Unfortunately there are no such candidates that I know of at this point. Hopefully in the future they will be. Think forest green have a female manager? But not sure on her route to that role, if that's right

I don't care what sex or gender our manager is, as long as they are appointed on their skill in managing this club.
There is always the question if, to be a successful manager, you have to have played the game. I think no, you have to understand it and having played under a top quality manager at a big club is always an advantage but not essential. A number of very successful managers did not play at the top level. Famously Wenger and Mourinho didn't have much of a playing career. So absolutely no reason a woman could not be a top manager at SAFC or elsewhere in the top tiers of English football.

If we want to be seen as a progressive club, one thing we could do is to have a coaching/managerial academy at the club. Get people managing and coaching the various levels with us, but send them out on loan/placement, sponsor UEFA pro licences etc. We kind of do this already but I don't think it is with a formal program. If we did, then we could make sure some places were reserved for women and try to give them the openings that would otherwise be difficult. If we can't find them, produce them.

As for right now, if someone can name a female manager who is successfully forging out a career in the top four tiers of football here or at one of the larger foreign football leagues, then absolutely no reason why she could not be a contender. I'm not aware of any, so it will be a bloke.

My point is, most people start at the bottom and work their way up. Being a woman doesn't mean you can jump the queue. We don't need to virtue-signal that we're progressive. We need a manager capable of doing the job.
I don’t usually start at the bottom and work my way up but hey Ho I’d give it a try

Looking at the fact that we’re going with young foreign kids, who at their age are usually pushing back against the authority of their father, maybe a mom type would be a better bet. Growing up a boy will eventually end up in a power struggle with his father at some point and it’s the mom that keeps the ship steady.
I would like to see this not for the fact she’s a woman but more for the psychological reasons. You never want to disappoint or piss of the mom because there’s no recourse.

Don't you think they should prove themselves at lower league first? Like 99% of all male managers do? Why do you think being a woman allows them to jump straight into a top job untested?

People should be judged on merit, not their race or gender. I believe Martin Luther King once said something similar.

I never said that they should jump straight into a top job

You said 99% do. They don’t.

It’s a fair chunk that get a job in the top leagues without any experience
People like Rooney, Lampard, Carrick have played at the very highest level and experienced everything there is in the game. They've played under the greatest managers with the best players for decades. They're experts. They get the job based partly on reputation, and partly based on the fact they're experts of the game.

You already know this. You're just arguing for the sake of it.

If a female player came along that was as good as one of our players I'd happily put them in the mens team. Not because they're a woman, but because they've earned the right to be there.

So it’s not to do with managerial experience at all. Gotcha

If they can get us into the playoff final as a minimum which is an improvement on last season aye why not.
