Tide Is Turning

We need Sam to fuck the FA off and commit to us ASAP, then get the likes of M'Vila signed immediately. We can't afford to piss around any longer.

It will be a disaster for us if he leaves, particularly now.

I really hope I'm wrong but it would be so typical we do this. The last 4 years our pre-season prep has been a joke. This year it looked good on paper and we are doing all the right things then we get this. So frustrating.
Another monumental cockup preseason for the umpteenth year.

Agree the tide has turned, but in a different sense than the OP.

Sam has built a good foundation in only one transfer window. And even if he leaves for England, he projected the image of Sunderland/Winner not Sunderland/Loser.

He has done more for Sunderland in 10 months than any of our recent managers, board members or owner(s) in 10 years.

We need to start playing hardball, assuming Sam doesn't have a break clause for the England job we should demand a stupid amount of compensation from the FA to release him.

This will cause either the FA to move on or it it will cause Sam to quit and then we can move on.

I don't think it is.

Most fans I speak to who don't get on this board are prepared to wait and see what happens. Certainly wouldn't boo allardyce at Hartlepool, for example, if he is still in charge.

I think it's a case of this board getting a bit hysterical and impatient. Not for the first time.

There has to be a cut off point though when a decision has to be made. But we aren't there yet imo.

Hope he's still the manager for years to come tbh.

If anyone boos Sam at any game they should be shot with shit. It would be utterly pathetic behaviour of the highest order.

Most that I talk to who are regulars at the SOL think it is time for a decision either way
Sam can't sign players as he can't commit to the club
Yes, that is exactly the problem. The initial response from the board of our beloved club was strong, clear and admirable. I think most people will have been at least content with it.

But this has dragged on and continues to seriously damage our club. Clearly the FA couldn't care less.

What is needed, not tomorrow, but today, is another strong statement to the FA. In addition the club needs to communicate with Sam. Both need to be told that tomorrow, Monday is the final day when Sam is authorised to talk with the FA on this topic. At he end of tomorrow the club requires a clear notification of the decision the FA and Sam have taken.

Tuesday morning will otherwise begin with Sam as our manager without permission to talk with them further on this topic.

They are abusing our honesty and unwarranted patience. It needs to stop now.

differ on that, imo there is an outline offer, if not we should set an ultimatum
Yes. We should set it as Monday close of business and make it 100% clear that it it it is a rocks old, copper bottom eddeadline.

How many of us can imagine Arsenal putting up with such absolute contempt for our club? The FA would not dare.

Maybe the fa are dragging their heels knowing we need to act, and maybe in the process saving them paying compo if we push Sam out the door.

Surely if Sam quits without having the clubs blessing we could legally prevent him from taking up another job for a year, that will be no good for the FA
