Tickets not valid for replay

EFL regulations just say the hosting club has to have a published policy for dealing with abandonments. I'm guessing based on Andy Holt's comments that their policy is "tough shit", which is fair enough I suppose. There is plenty of precedents either way; when Swindon and Bristol Rovers got abandoned after 60 mins a few years back, Swindon gave the replay free to season ticket holders but recharged everyone else.

I get the whole small club finance aspect, but speaking to some Accy fans online during the week, they were having a little whinge about how they were sick of being patronised in the run up to the game. "We're a League One club on merit" and "we're now Sunderland's equals" was the basic craic. Some of the hair-ruffling, "Aww bless them" comments this week from sunlun fans have been a bit OTT I reckon.

i'm not fussed about having to pay again, it's just one of those things and ended up being a game that people will talk about for years to come. in 20 years there will be 20,000 claim to have been there.
one thing though, i wonder if the stanley fans with season tickets will have to pay for the replay? if not i thought clubs couldn't charge away fans more than home fans in equivalent areas?

It was poor officiating. A quick call to the local Met Office and the ref could have been told that there was a deluge coming from the direction of Blackpool which would hit Accrington at about four o'clock. It's simple - when something is marginal you look at the weather forecast. We did this in club cricket - in pro football it should be a no brainer. No need for conspiracy theories involving Accrington - simple error by the match officials.
I agree that the conspiracy theories are just plain daft. However the rain might have been forecast, but how is the ref supposed to know how the pitch will handle it? Nobody can predict that, surely?

He apparently said the game could go ahead, subject to no further adverse weather, although he had "concerns" about the pitch. The forecast indicated that that was nigh-on certain to happen. It was obvious even on photos that the pitch wouldn't be able to withstand anything more than light rain. The prudent course would have been to postpone.

@Doberman makes a fair point mind, will their season card holders have to pay extra for the rearranged game? I can understand them charging, overheads and all that, but if their fans don't pay extra (at least not their ST holders), seems a bit harsh if ours have to

You have won RTG today . . . . This is a great point. NO WAY they will charge their ST holders - therefore free for us too. Or massively massively discounted.

Fair enough when you put it like that. I was surprised it went ahead. When we were in the pub before the game it seemed dark at 2pm.

They only have 1100 st holders mate. Why would you make the only source of gaurenteed income pay?

Andy Holt has said that tickets won’t be valid for re-arranged fixture. Disgraceful IMO, 20 quid ticket and 30 quid travel (minimum) for 70 minutes of a friendly against Accrington f***ing Stanley.

You cant blame them for the weather?
The game shouldnt have started if there was a poor forecast. The pitch was barely playable at the start. Thats down to the ref though.
Their staff and the Police still need paying.
You cant expect a freebie. Simply not their fault.

I know, but either it should be an additional game or a replacement. Regardless of the numbers or the finances, or the importance of the fans to the club, it should be the same for everyone. A bit like how away fans can't be charged more for the same/ similar view to home fans. Like I say I can understand them charging it again, and I do think they're a canny club, but I don't see how they can justify charging our fans because but including it effectively free of charge for theirs

Tbh we're all just making assumptions at the minute. I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of reduction is put in place. I can understand them wanting to cover costs though, that's pretty sensible to do.

Reverse the situation and I’m sure you’d see their point of view.
