There was a picture on his Twitter feed with a rough calculation of his gate takings yesterday. It was under £70k. That wouldn't cover the wages for Catts and Oviedo for a week. Out of that he has to meet his own players wages and all the match day overheads. Accrington's annual turnover isn't disclosed at CH, because it's classed as a micro-company, but their turnover is probably not much more than £3m. They simply can't afford a one-match freebie.
astonishing the job the manager is doing in that case.
few fans i met there were people who are actually blackburn or blackpool owners annoyed by the owners..or ,man city who cant get tickets..if he uses that revenue correctly..stanley can build..

will they be charging season card holders extra or can they afford to host the game without any additional income from their own support?

if they can't afford to host an additional game then cancel it and give us the 3 points.

They have 1200 season ticket holders. There's a calculation on their chairman's Twitter feed suggesting their income yesterday was under £70k. By the time they've paid the players and the matchday costs, there'll be precious little of that left. And you want them to incur the same costs with no income due to something they had no control over.

Whilst I agree with u fully on the point they shouldn't pay for something out of there control. That match shouldn't of started the pitch was touch and go and rain forecast. I left at half time cos was blatantly obvious game wouldn't finish. The cynic in me finds it funny that it was called off about exactly as the acceptable time for not giving refunds arrived. For the record i thought head stewards and police were unhelpful and rude yesterday(I was sober) also I don't expect nor want any reimbursing for anything and I'll be at rearranged game

It was poor officiating. A quick call to the local Met Office and the ref could have been told that there was a deluge coming from the direction of Blackpool which would hit Accrington at about four o'clock. It's simple - when something is marginal you look at the weather forecast. We did this in club cricket - in pro football it should be a no brainer. No need for conspiracy theories involving Accrington - simple error by the match officials.

Should be a reduction imo though. Even just worked out to the time we were short changed of first time round.

He will have been bouncing last night thinking of another payday
Maybe the club could put on free travel for the rearranged game?

I think if you went yesterday and retained your ticket stub or the club confirm your loyalty point, then charge £15/16 for the rearranged game. Should you wish to attend.

Not sure why it's a disgrace. Staff need paying, police bill, utilities ect. Some people expect everything for nowt.
Exactly (as per the milk advert). A club that has been crippled and nearly disappeared a number of times over the last 15 years. And I thought it was a league game, not a friendly as someone else pointed out.

if the game was called off at 9am yesterday morning, they'd reimburse ticket price but because we stood in the pissing rain for 80 minutes then we're entitled to nowt?

I just expected to get on the bus, go to the game, get into the game for kick off and go home. Instead we were held in an empty car park for 10-15 minutes, escorted in needlessly, pushed from pillar to post outside in a muddy field whilst trying to enter the ground with a valid ticket & then told we can pay £20 to do it all over again.
You could always choose not to do it again. No loss to Stanley or Accrington if you don't turn up.

Coleman's doing a class job at Stanley.

A quick call to the Met Office would have established that given we were in Accy on a day with a "y" in it, it was going to piss down @squashjoe

I hope you're right. But as you say checking weather forecast should be a no brainer

The players and other employees are paid weekly/monthly, so there would be no additional cost for a rearranged game in that respect.

If the EFL rules say that its half-price admission for a rearranged game, then its half price. No amount of tweets from an owner will change that. That said, I doubt even half of our support will go back again as the new ground has been ticked off, so those tickets would then be available at full price to other SAFC fans.

The rules quoted are the Regulations for the EFL Cup, EFL Trophy and Playoff finals at Wembley. Any refunds for normal fixtures are at the discretion of the home club.

A league match is a match between 2 teams that counts towards the end of seaason league table.

A friendly is a match that has no bearing on any competition and is effectively just for fun.

In this case, the match started as a league match, but as a result of the abandonment, became a friendly.
I've never heard such stupidity in all my life.

It's not half price.

If the fans that went just so they could 'tick off the ground' don't bother going to the rearranged game it just means another couple of thousand who also want to 'tick the ground' off can go instead. Pretty sure we will still sell out our allocation.

For whatever reason, the ref decided the game should go ahead, that was his decision and his alone. But, it had nothing to do with either club, it wasn’t a conspiracy on Accrington’s part to get another game out of it, it was what it was. Torrential rain

Who is Andy Holt?

Drinking with us last season.
A real nice down to Earth football fan who just owns his local club.
Made a special bond with my youngest lad and rounded off a cracking day.

As for calling games off. Our wonderful Chairman made Bristol Rovers fans pay in full when the game was called off at Halftime. Not suprised.
