We do have fantastic away support mate. That is beyond question. As far as I’m concerned the club have repaid this by giving us a team we can get behind, one that’s competing at the top of the league we’re in. I agree it would be a nice gesture. But there are some coming across as if it’s an obligation on the part of our club and or Accrington, neither of which is the case. Whilst we haven’t got a pot to piss in, I would rather the money this would cost, however paltry it may seem was used on something more productive.

Most of our best players were already here mate It’s not like they’ve bought a whole new team

Should do it in my opinion.

That handful couldn’t do it alone. They could quite easily have bought a load of shite, but they didn’t, hence our league position. They’ve done more on and off the pitch for this club since they got in than the previous owner managed overall in his entire tenure. That will do to be going on with for me.

Well the signings have been a mixed bag, listen I’m not having ago they are doing a good job

Let’s not pretend they’ve spend cash on a whole new team as they haven’t

That’s unfair on short, he ploughing 10s of millions of his own cash in and there were plenty moments that were enjoyable. Let’s not rewrite history

It’s so much easier to make an impact in league one than the premier league where you are playing top teams every week. And you know that

I’m not rewriting history at all. The facts are there for everyone to see. Short redeemed himself in my eyes with the manner of his leaving. How he arrived at that point is common knowledge.
Show me where I say they spent cash on a whole new team. I said they have given us a new team that’s competing at the top of the league. And aye, that’s league one, where short through his incompetence and incredibly bad appointments left us. I absolutely do not follow what you mean with your last sentence mate, maybe you could clarify what you mean, as far as I can tell we are in league 1 with a league 1 team, I don’t understand the premier league thing.

It’s a lot easier for new owners to come and do all this PR stuff when you’re playing Walsall on Saturday

Its virtually impossible when you’re playing man city and co every week

I like the owners and I’m loving what they are doing but the praise is way over the top

Staying in the top flight for a decade, is infinitely harder than doing well in league one

We stayed up as long as we did due to Ellis shovelling money at it, and by and large there being three teams with us that were shitter than we were, the last few months of Allardyce notwithstanding.
They don’t have a choice and they can’t pick and choose what league we are in. I don’t think the praise is over the top. They’ve done a great job up to now. Credit where it’s due. I don’t think many if any could have expected what they’ve achieved. It’s very early days and there’s a long way to go, but so far so good.

I thought we'd be at the top of league one like, we should be with the players we have

Getting relegated to league one without a pot to piss and on the brink of financial ruin after 10 seasons on the Premier League gravy train isn't an achievement

Here we go, It went wrong the last few years, but before that there is alot of rewriting of history like

Everyone gets f***ing relegated eventually

You were one of the runs saying how well run Swansea and Soton were etc, they all go down eventually

football will go on forever you know, you don't just write off 10 years in the top flight because the 2 years after were shit

Its like saying 1973 doesnt count because a decade later we were shite

very strange

There is no re writing of history. We've ended up in League one and had hideous debt under him. That's his legacy whether you like it or not. Its happened.

Your point about 73 is beyond ridiculous btw

No we had no debt when he left, none what soever

And its not

Its the same as saying Bob Murray and Peter Reid was a waste of time because he ended up sacked and we got relegated with 15 point

News flash, all things end, doesn't mean they were all a waste of time and weren't enjoyable for periods at the time

Its bizarre logic

Whats Reid's legacy then? Getting sacked and a pint chucked over his face?

Not its no is it, because although it ended badly most people are mature enough to remember the good times

We had a load of debt when we suffered back to back relegations. Under his watch.

Again your point is totally pointless as I've never once said anything was a waste of time.

News flash Mr Short left us in a terrible state and will be forever remembered for it. I don't think he had bad intentions but its safe to say his legacy is one of embarrassing failure.

A decade in the top flight is not a Total failure

45 mins from winning our first trophy in a generation

Smashing the mags 6 times in a row

He left us completely debt free. The owners are ridiculously lucky to have been presented with this opportunity

He left us in League one with back to back to relegations. He had to write off a hideous amount of debt we got under his watch. For any good he done it was completely and utterly wiped by the massive and rapid decline over the last 2 seasons. Last season was the worst league campaign in our history.
As I said I dont think he had bad intentions but his spell owning us will go down as a failure.

The new owners have still took on a fruit case of a club with players not turning up, court cases and massive fee for a player we don't even own. Fans feeling connected with their club for the 1st time in years. They're doing well.

Talking pittance like marra
We’re in league 1.

As Charlie said on the podcast the other week, the owners don’t have the deep pockets. This is the fans money, and they want to spend it on things that are good for the fans (not necessarily what fans think they want)

I’m paraphrasing hugely obviously. But he was absolutely correct. This is not about “the man” giving a hand out to the customers, the supporters fund the club. It’s our club

No one is going to ask for coach or hotel money back, as both of these provided the service for which they were paid.I am sure if the coach broke down half way, or the hotel was unable to provide your room for the night people would quite reasonably expect a full refund.
You are correct people are not forced to go to the re-arranged fixture (nb it is not a replay as you state), which is why admission charges should be refunded. Allowing people to retain their tickets to use for the re-arranged fixture would be a compromise offer, which would be acceptable to a lot of people. The most expensive part of running a club are the wages (staff and players), and the infrastructure (pitch offices training facilities etc.)the cost of which is known at the start of the season and factored into ticket prices. The cost of playing an additional fixture will therefor incur very little extra expense, mainly policing and stewarding, which for a small ground will not be hefty, probably no more than £2 per ticket.
Not refunding ticket money, and charging for the re-arranged fixture (given the pulling capacity of Sunderland) is a complete rip off and a disgrace. Shame on Accrington and hope we never have to play you again

Well you will cos you'll have the replay to play, as well as the home match.

The new owners have been like a breath of fresh air. They’ve been totally upfront with the fans, communicated and explained their decisions, listened to what the fans want (the pink seats as an example) and have stated that the club will not be held to ransom by players and agents. They have cut down on the waste and overspending, listened to football people on the appointments they have made, and understand that investing in the fans and not just the team will bring in more income to the club. The vast majority of fans have so far bought in to this vision for the future of our club. The only reason we didn’t go under in the summer was that the owner wiped off most of the debt the club was in, which to be fair, he was responsible for, after appointing some of the most inept people working in football to run and manage our club.

It’s footy mate. Nothing is a given. Considering the nick we were in at the end of last season, if anyone had told me the club and the team would be where they are now I’d have shown you a candidate for the funny farm.
