Tickets not valid for replay

EFL regulations regarding refunds and discounted admission refer to the EFL Cup, Checkatrade, and play-offs and don't refer to league fixtures.

Accy's Charter states that if the game is abandoned before half time, then all supporters who bought a ticket will be entitled to 50% off the rearranged league fixture.

No refunds then, and as it stands only the home ST holders will get to see the game without paying full whack.

Maybe Accrington should invest in better drainage for their pitch, the rain was pretty bad but other games managed to finish.

I would say it is unfair to ask people to pay full price again when, although by no means entirely Accrington’s fault, they could have done more to make sure games like this one can be completed.

They may be a small club but they are a fully professional club, many other clubs of that size have invested in better pitches. They decided not to, fans are paying twice as a result.
Exactly when did they decide not to invest in their pitch?

That is scandalous that mind. If its called off after 15 minutes, no refund and just a discount next time.

Can I just say to all those criticising Accrington for not investing in their pitch, better drainage and all that considering all the rain that fell in the days preceding the match and the cloud burst during it the only way to of prevented a postponement of abandonment was to put a roof on the stadium and to the best of my knowledge there’s only one stadium in uk with that facility

People completely over estimating Stanley's finances in here. Yes, it would be lovely if they let some away fans return for free but this is not feasible for their costs. Same for the pitch.

Some of you are embarrassing. Rather see the end of one of the leagues oldest clubs and have them "kicked out of the league" than have some sympathy for the actual situation. Wow.

It wasn’t too long ago they were close to going out of business. It isn’t their fault it was abandoned, not sure why so many think its their responsibility to give free tickets despite having to pay police / staff costs for the re-arranged game.

Their chairman seems like a genuine fella, i’m sure he’ll do anything he can but that won’t involve them making a big loss

It is pathetic like, but i couldnt get a ticket so suppose my opinion isn't valid. It's a one off event, it wasn't contrived by some rich bastard trying to cash in on our support (like premier league clubs do - CAT A every game?). What's the most its cost people? The full away day experience minus 20 minutes of football that was unable to be played. No one is forcing people to go back. Have a bit of dignity man .

I’d imagine if the match was say, away at Man Utd a lot of people who are saying ‘just pay again’ would have a different opinion.

So if Accrington can be treated differently because they’re a small club then don’t complain when the big clubs get away with skullduggery.
Skullduggery:lol:
Aye, Man Utd are gonna abandon a game so 3000 SAFC fans have to pay another £30.

They are in the entertainment business, if you went to the cinema, or theatre and the performance was curtailed you would expect and get either a refund or a replacement ticket. AS advertised a football match that they were unable to complete, furthermore under league rules this game has to be replayed just happens that the game we are talking about is against Sunderland, the biggest cash cow the league. So aye the chairman seems a canny fella, sees the chance of making a few extra pounds at the expense of ripping decent hard working folk off. Hope the bastards disappear back into the mire of non-league football asap .

People moaning because they missed the last 20 minutes of the game. Isnt that normal for many when we play at home.............................

i'd like to see the associated costs for a cinema or theatre to host an extra show as a percentage of their overall costs, when compared to a small football club having to host a professional football league game without taking any money at the gate.

no one is forcing people to go back to the replay. its just an unfortunate event, out of the hands of the owners. its not some massive conspiracy. i'd imagine that Accrington simply can't afford to host a game whilst letting people in for nowt . are people going to ask for their coach money and petrol money back too? and hotel costs?

They don’t make a lot, there were some figures posted earlier. But you’d rather they were made to give free tickets even though it could destabilise the club, even though it wasn’t their decision.

We are in league 1, and some clubs don’t have the resources we do - we are fortunate to be in the position we are. They are a decent club trying to survive, wanting them to disappear because of officials stopping a game is poor

its just the modern world isn't it. always someone wanting something for free, or refunded, or not happy with the product, or disgraced by something, or never using 'X' company EVER AGAIN, always someone upset with customer service or being outraged and organising boycotts.

It rained extremely heavily on a glorified non-league pitch (no disrespect), the game was called off by the Ref (rightly so), Accrington Stanley can't afford to host free games. so fans will pay again IF they want to watch it. its not complicated. or disgraceful

It's easy for fans of a club with £33m in TV income this year and 20,000 season ticket holders, to criticise a small club for not spending the same money. They simply haven't got the money to spend.

But as far as "value for money" goes, I know from experience that in twenty or thirty years time, when tou're looking back on this season, even if it ends in promotion, the people who went to Accrington on Saturday will remember that match as much as any all season. What are you paying for? The matchday experience. And when you're reminiscing, this matchday experience will stick in the memory for years, long after you've forgotten about the 90 minute 2-2 draw at Walsall. Paying for a football match is always a lottery whether you get good or bad, memorable or forgettable, and eventually (once you've dried out!) this will be one of the matches you look back on and be glad you were there.

What happened when our home game against Fulham was cancelled in similar circumstances 10 + years ago.

That's a better precedent, and I'm sure the rearranged game wasn't free for non season ticket holders
From what I remember I used a spare voucher from my season ticket book to get in. Can't remember paying again.

Destabilising the club is abit dramatic mind. They've just bought a new stand and seem to be developing the ground

Some people are talking about them like they don't have a pot to piss in. They'd have made plenty of money from the game Saturday and probably from games like the Barnsley game.

Good post, especially the bit about the lottery.

“It finished 0-0, I want my money back” will be next
