Thunder warning

Update from Slight to Enhanced Risk of strong/severe thunderstorms for North East England and parts of Southern Scotland for the next 4 - 6 hours.

Confidence remains low but higher confidence of storm upscaling along the cold front in the next several hours. Thunderstorms across S Scotland will also persist for the next several hours. Migration of heavy showers currently across Lancs and Merseyside will slowly track NNE or ENE with an expectation for these to upscale and become more intense and severe as the cold front engages with the high theta-e plume.

Whilst convection should be largely elevated, there will be the continued threat of elevated base supercell development and or line segments posing the risk of severe and dangerous weather conditions. Main threats continue to be frequent lightning, large hail, gusty winds and the risk of flash flooding.

Eyes to the skies.

Prevailing wind is pushing south to north, which should hold the thunder storm over Scotland. Other forecasts are showing heavy rain in a couple of hours, but I think the chance of lightning is greatly diminished sadly.
