Thoughts on Doddsy as our next manager?

I’ve seen a lot of posts from people tonight saying “no thanks”, and I’m curious to know why?

If you had asked me when Mowbray was sacked, then I’d have firmly said “No” before you had even finished asking the question, but in those last two games I’ve been very impressed. I thought West Brom were there for the taking, but they won convincingly tonight, and that Leeds team were bloody good tonight, I don’t think Mowbray would have won that.

I’m still not 100% yes, but I’m definitely not 100% any more.

Tactically tonight he was perfectly. His press conferences have been spot on. He seems very confident and deliberate in everything he does. The players seem to love him. Could he not be the young hidden gem that we are looking all over Europe for?

It’s early days still, but tonight was very impressive, and I’m starting to be converted.

Thoughts?

As long as we keep progressing he'll do for me. Its clear he knows his team and they like him. He's handled the role well imo.

No issue for us to take our time with Dodds in charge if our top targets are unavailable. He’s set us up brilliant lash two games.

He is highly rated as a coach and only 37. He might be even more ready next time.

If Still doesn’t come now, I would stick with him until the right head Coach becomes available. If Dodds makes the job his own in that time, then it’s his to earn.

Based on the 2 games to date I would be in favour of giving him until the end of the season at least. He seems tactically aware, judging by the team he put out tonight to match the way leeds play and the job they done carrying out his game plan. His substitutions are like a breath of fresh air and seem to have an impact, which tells me he knows what needs to happen. And judging by the interview with o,nien and Jobe after the game the players seem massively respectful of him. Worry woul be its only 2 games albeit against 2 teams higher in the league than us.

Be how he handles the games that don't go our way that define him imo. If we can have a bad spell for 2 or 3 games and he keeps the dressing room on board then great. That's where mowbray earned his corn. Great man manager. If dodds can do the same great

The positives are that he would buy into the model and that he already has a bond with the players. He has improved dramatically from his first short spell in charge and is clearly (and surprisingly) tactically astute.
The negatives are that the club would be accused of a lack of ambition, taking the cheap option again and failing to bring in someone who embodies their vision.
I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes about breaking defensive teams down, which has been our problem.
If the right man isn’t available now, I’d have no problem giving Dodds the job until the end of the season.

One thing it has done at the very least is bought us more time before getting the next appointment right. More leverage (higher position with January window looming, better chance to keep squad together without sales, caretaker manager performing well so not uber desperate).

He's surprised me. Looked confident before the match and spoke assertively afterwards. I'm sure he'd be happy holding the fort for a while longer, he's got nothing to lose that way.

I think we might potentially be on the verge of getting the most highly regarded young coach in Europe. Dodds has done a great job but we could be about to make the most ambitious appointment in decades.
If he carries on winning he'll be regarded the same way. Better the devil you know.

He at least deserves a few more games imo.

Id give him till the end of the season
Thank goodness someone else has said this ( exactly what I think but née way was I going to be first )!
If we beat Bristol -hands would be forced -yes we don’t know hoe he would deal with a run of bad results ( however we had some before west brom and he’s done amazingly well )
I’m happy to leave it to the big boys upstairs but not one of the 40000 of us would have set up as he did tonight -nor if we did would have expected it to work?
Brilliant game management tonight -Farke certainly wasn’t expecting it and look at his reaction in his interview afterwards -he’s stunned
