Yes mate.

We were briefed 2 weeks before it was brought into public eye.

No official name was mentioned but company names were leaked within govt and we were all informed... unfortunately..

You have to understand in such circumstances measures e put in place before the public can be informed unfortunately

We are writing to you with regards to the above Thomas Cook claim.

In order to continue processing your claim we require the following information from you.


If your flights were with Thomas Cook your claim is for a refund of what you paid for your booking.

Please send us:

  • Confirmation Invoice issued by Thomas Cook
  • evidence of payment to Thomas Cook (see below for acceptable Evidence of payment to Thomas Cook).
If your flights were/are with an airline other than Thomas Cook Airlines, please let us know what type of claim you wish to make:

A refund claim because:

1. You will not, or have not, used your flights. Please send us:

  • Confirmation Invoice issued by Thomas Cook
  • a completed Flight Declaration Form (available to download here: Flight Declaration Form); and
  • evidence of payment to Thomas Cook (see below for acceptable Evidence of payment to Thomas Cook).
2. You have used, or intend to use, your flights, you had paid the whole cost of your holiday in full and are making a claim for the cost of replacing your other travel services Please send us:

  • Confirmation Invoice issued by Thomas Cook
  • a completed Valid Flight Acknowledgement Form (available to download here: Valid Flight Acknowledgement Form). Completing and returning this will ensure that we do not cancel your flight or need to contact the airline to check if you travelled which would slow your claim down;
  • evidence of payment to your Thomas Cook (see below for acceptable Evidence of payment to Thomas Cook);
  • itemised receipts for your replacement travel services; and
  • evidence of payment for your replacement travel services (see below for acceptable Evidence of payment for replacement travel services).
3. You have used, or intend to use, your flights, you had not paid the whole cost of your holiday in full and are making a claim for a refund of what you have paid for your package less the original cost of the flight you will be using/have used. Please send us:

  • Confirmation Invoice issued by Thomas Cook
  • a completed Valid Flight Acknowledgement Form (available to download here: Valid Flight Acknowledgement Form) Completing and returning this will ensure that we do not cancel your flight or need to contact the airline to check if you travelled which would slow your claim down; and
  • evidence of payment to Thomas Cook (see below for acceptable Evidence of payment to Thomas Cook)

Evidence of payment to Thomas Cook and/or Replacement Travel Services

a) If you paid by debit/credit or charge card – we need one of the following showing your payment(s):


  • your bank/credit/charge card statement, or a copy of it;
  • a printed copy or electronic image of your online statement; or
  • a printed or electronic screenshot of your credit card/banking App
b) If you paid by cheque – we need to see that the cheque cleared based on one of the following:

  • a clear copy of both sides of the cleared cheque;
  • a letter from your bank or building society confirming how much the cheque was for, who it was made payable to and the date it cleared;
  • your bank statement, or a copy of it showing your payment(s);
  • a printed copy or electronic image of your online bank statement showing your payment(s); or
  • a printed or electronic screenshot of your banking App showing your payment(s)
c) If you paid by bank transfer- we need to see one of the following:

  • your statement, or a copy of it showing your payment(s);
  • a printed copy or electronic image of your online bank statement showing your payment(s); or
  • a printed or electronic screenshot of your banking App showing your payment(s)
d) If you paid in cash and your payment was less than £1,000 in a single transaction

  • the original (or a copy of the) cash receipt that you received at the time of payment that confirms cash as the payment method
e) If you paid more than £1,000 in cash in a single transaction

  • the original (or a copy of the) cash receipt you received at the time of payment that confirms cash as the payment method; and
  • documentary evidence of the source of cash i.e. withdrawal of the sum from your bank
f) If you paid by vouchers/gift cards

  • Proof of payment (see the information above depending on how you paid) for your gift card/vouchers and proof this was how you paid, or part paid, for your holiday.


Information required for consumers whose claims are assigned to a travel agent or tour operator:

Some travel agents or tour operators will agree to re-book you another holiday or replacement travel services and will accept your agreement that you will arrange for your refund to be paid to them as payment (or part payment) for the new holiday or replacement travel services).

thanks for that honest reply, it confirms what I thought , that everything was in place prior to the announcement being made , I find it strange that they were still accepting bookings / payment when the directors would have known the inevitable.

tbh mate when we were told I was shocked and disgusted that they were still taking money on booking, but I geussthat's British capitalism.
 
Agree it doesn’t seam fair on the consumer but TC would argue that they were in a battle right to the very end to secure financing from both the banks and HM government. Effectively ceasing to trade while these discussions were ongoing would have scuppered any remaining chance the company had of survival.Sadly it’s not just consumers who loose out in such scenarios, often the first thing employees know that the company is in trouble is when they turn up for work and find the premed is locked.
