This sums it up for me

I got the impression that the makeup of preseason training was still very much the provision of the coach, sheps. Personally I think that player physical condition, health and wellbeing should be wholly owned by the club and should take first priority during the early parts of the summer. I'd love to see us innovate in that area and put in resource to try to develop a competitive advantage. It's another area where the club have been spending over the past decade where we ended up throwing money away on mediocre players.
Have you read something to suggest that? would be interested in it if you had.

Having read Congertons comments on his role at Hamburg, player well being is part of his remit.

With the players wearing those bibs I would have thought Congerton and his data analysis guys would be all over the information gathered on the players.

Mind this isn't me excusing Advocaat, they are both responsible for players fitness. Just neither are wholly to blame or blameless.

You cannt say for certain that they wont be for this season ...................

I think the TV money next year will move the goalposts but you cant say for certain what you have.........

Theres a lot more than us looking at FFP and theres a perfectly good reason why.......
Like I said thou, there are no penalties agreed or in place AS OF YET. The rest is speculation and/or scaremongering.

No but the actual limits are specified............that's why clubs are not ignoring FFP................

The limits yes the penalties no.
I didn't say otherwise .........theres a reason though clubs are taking notice of it and its not just us despite the myths on here.............

west ham also lost Downing from the age bill who will have been on a lot more than any of them.........add that to the £80k a week you can increase it by .........the actual spend doesn't matter as the penalties for losses only come into force after a three year rolling period and next year they will have increased revenue anyway thanks to the new stadium..........

That's only two players for Everton and again you can increase it by around £80k a week before it breaks any regulations.......Havent they also let Distin go as well who must be about 56 by now.............

Which bit of hes been trying to stop throwing his own money down a black hole have you missed mate...........he isn't just going to form a new company to pay to stick its name on the stadium and pour his money away down a new hole..............

New backroom staff cost sod all compared to the manger..........the last lot were on relative buttons and anyway next year the TV cash goes up by another £30 million or so........

But you don't know that they wont be put in place and applied for this trading year which wont be reported until 2017 so they wont be applied retrospectively..............
He is throwing money away doing nothing though m8 and next year's rebuilding job will add to it. It does not make any sense at all to do what he is doing. I wish he would just come out and give an honest answer to what his plans are whether that be trying to sell us etc. At least the fans would know where we stand.

What doesn't make sense?

As far as wages are concerned, we ALWAYS have to pay more to get players than the London clubs.
When agents hear the word 'Sunderland', they add £20 or £30K pw to their demands.
The medium term solution is:
1. Better club management at all levels
2. Better use of the AOL and youth development
3. Better scouting for players

I agree that maximising the loan system may well help to clear out some of the deadwood in 2016, but we must stop bringing in deadwood in the first place.
Clough always looked at a player's character before he was bought.
It is probably harder these days to get a genuine player and not some idle tosser but surely there must be some players of decent character out there.

If it's such a burden for Short to own the club he should offer to sell it for next to nowt. He was happy to buy it on the cheap when Drumaville was hard up......if he made a mistake maybe he should be the one to pay for it rather than us having to suffer through his excuse making and flirting with relegation every season.

If it seems like a bargain, someone will buy it.....Short did.

Of course it makes sense. You might not agree with it or want it but it's perfectly understandable.
Does it hell make sense you loon. We stayed up by the skin of our teeth and to not inject quality this season will see us relegated. The riches on offer next season should be an incentive to make the club act. Next season we gunna need a new manager a new set of back room staff and about 6 to 7 new players again

Could argue the same about several teams.
We are making big losses with a huge bill not wanting to add to that is perfectly understandable.

I see both Ellis and @the streaker are getting a right good toasting on this thread. Being an honourable gent and assuming they're not the same person anyway i won't kick either man while they're down.
You couldn't kick your way out of a paper bag on such a thread and you certainly need specsavers to boot...
