This sums it up for me

How are they "awash with cash" from a deal that's "forthcoming"...........

" their rivals in the bottom half of the table awash with cash thanks to the Premier League’s forthcoming new television deal"

And every single PL club does this........

" the fact that Sunderland are still paying off instalments owed on transfers that stretch back two or three years as explanations for why the scope for further investment is limited."

Has the transfer window shut like?
I was still feeling like this until recently. It's pretty damning though that the last signing made was a loan, and the two rumoured now are loans.

It's a safe bet that there are no permanent signings being made before the window shuts.

The club's predicament is a massive worry, and if you can't see that you're simply in denial.

I'm normally clapping along happily, but the whole situation has a pretty dire outlook to me.

He's not saying much different to what the rest of us are. I'm still reserving judgement until the window is closed, however my confidence is slowly dwindling.

Maybe everyone else is prepared to gamble based on next years income? Our policy again looks to be to reduce our debt.

No teams like Southampton have the luxury of profit on player sales and Crystal Palace have a wage bill that's well below the benchmark at which FFP restrictions start........

The vast amount spent on absolute dross by De Fanti could ensure that we will be restricted for a further 2 years for me. It could be quite staggering the amount we have spent and I kind of understand why Short is a lot more careful now but it will end in disaster, he could do with ensuring his support staff are more qualified, for someone so successful his appointments have been crap.

This for me and has been for a good while. We are an appallingly run football club. We were supposed to be steadying the ship this season, yet 3 of the positions we are desperate to strengthen are likely to be loans, then we repeat the cycle.

£9 million for Wickham
It's £7 million plus add on's
If add on's include number of goals scored we will never collect
Plus
We paid £9 million for him. Plus £3 million add on's which we paid in full over the length of his contact.
So we could potentially loose £5 million on Wickham in transfer fees alone.

We should go out and hire the best youth development team we can get, put all of our efforts into bringing 2 0r 3 real prospects through year on year, and accept we are not prepared to spend real money on genuine quality.

All we are doing is repeating thee cycle of fannying around year on year, and making no progress whatsoever, let's build, and accept that the rewards will take time.

What exactly is our strategy to catch up with the top 10?

We're hamstrung by poor decisions. Drummerville had a scattergun approach and the Henderson money was never invested correctly. Add to that De Fanti and countless changes of manager. If we arn't generating cash we can't spend. It's almost like we can't afford to be a Premier League club.

You know they guy has seen us spend £29 million on Fletcher, Graham and Wickham
Plus wages
Nee wonder he is wary of shelling out more of his own money.

Sunderland are one of the few teams that have the ability to make an Argentinian international look rubbish.
We do have an uncanny knack of taking a decent player and turning them in useless footballers.
