This might not go down too well on here for some

What a load of crap. A work in progress? We’ve only got 2 new starters in our 11, and he’s had 65+ games with the rest of them. It’s an absolute shambles. And how can his second season always be better - he’s only had one real job before us - hardly a basis for comparison. The football is not getting better that’s the problem. Not one player has progressed positively under Ross, only declined

This. If mcgeady gets injured we would struggle to make the league 1 play offs. That’s the side jack Ross has assembled with the resources available. And it’s horrific to watch anarl

But this manager will not get us in to the top 2

I've watched every game so far and in all games apart maybe the Portsmouth game we have been poor

It's no different from last season and it will end up the same way with Jack Ross in charge

Thanks Mr. C, for your insightful glimpse of the future. Wish I had your powers.

i just think the players are very average, we will be in the top 4 with this team, it's not a team that will win the league with ease and some games like last night we will draw and lose, concede late as we maybe should have last night, we got lucky this time

We need to just hope the opposition keep missing chances. Looks like the same pattern from last season performance wise.
This thread is an embarrassment on both sides anarl. Not sure why it gets personal and people revert to calling to each other and being offended by others either enjoying/not enjoying playing under the manager. People can have different opinions without attacking each other. Exactly what is wrong with this board really

I’m not surprised. They should have won tonight. They missed some sitters. Yet we sit and watch the game go by. I think we need 5 in midfield.
One of their players ran us ragged .. longish hair
Thought their baldy number 7 was really good anarl. Disappointed at our performance we were very lucky. Our LB McLaughlin was awful last night he needs shifting from their it's making him look a worse player than he is. Our midfield were also very poor. Our GK & 2 CBs were a plus as was Wyke

Many on here in denial.

They've made their mind up and they won't be proven wrong in their own little world. He could get us back to the PL then lose 3-0 on the opening day and they would say "I knew he wasn't up to it".

Just a f***ing nuisance and a drain on the club.
We've been poor and boring for months. If he improves performances everyone will be delighted.

Your last sense is utter nonsense

I said I'd give him 10 games to make my mind up. We need to get in the top 2 and stay there.

If this is your opinion I’m curious as to which squads in these league you actually think are better than ours. I’ve heard this opinion before but whenever I’ve asked the person has shied away from the question. Just asking as I think that our squad is better than any other, by a reasonable distance, and therefore cannot attribute the lack of a gap at the top to anything but the manager and would be interested to see the other side of the argument

Early days bollix he's had owa 60 games & the footballs getting worse

At times Rochdale outpassed us f***ing Rochdale not Man Utd

Part of the problem is that playing against Sunderland takes the pressure off these teams ... sorry but it's true.

They have nothing to lose, play out of their skin and raise their game because its Sunderland.

It's noticeable that we improve in the second half because teams can't maintain that intensity.

That’s just categorically not true though is it? Whilst we’ve won 2 league games, we’ve also drawn 2. I don’t count the cup against Accrington reserves. In none of the four league games have we really played well, and up until last night we hadn’t really created a goal - 2 mistakes, 1 penalty and 1 set play, whilst admirable, don’t serve to allay fears of a total lack of creativity in the side. We’d only managed 1 shot on target in 3 games additional to the goals before last night, where admittedly we were a little better on this count, but still not as creative as we need to be. If we keep not scoring goals, we’ll start losing games - you seen that at the end of last season when the wins turned to draws and the draws to defeats. We’ve definitely had our fair share of good fortune in the opening four games and all four could have been very different results on another day.

To win the league, whilst you’ll always have games like last night, these need to be coupled with some convincing wins on the way through. Not even talking 5-0 thrashings, but 2-0 up after 60 minutes and cruising, finishes 2-0 without any dramas, that kind of game. We are incapable of doing that under Ross. Only 3 times last season we won by more than one goal. That needs to improve. You can’t be clinging on every single week as you’ll come unravelled doing that

I can’t disagree with this post. I’ve been calling all season for a more traditional formation of 433, with a midfield three of McGeoch or Grant holding, then power and onien both pushing on to support the front three. Think we need the extra stability in midfield to be honest to control games and possession. We are playing 2v3 in there most weeks and it shows.

its an interesting one and i must admit i was waiting for Ross to take Wyke off with 10 minutes to go to bring on an extra defender to preserve the lead. he didnt so maybe he has learnt, still we were hanging on at the end and we really should have killed the game off. Blame the players or the manager or both, fact is we are not a good team and it will not be so easy getting promoted as i think it should be with a big big club like ours. 09 is not a right back, Grigg is so slow and a really poor player i wouldnt even have him on the bench, these are 2 problems to start with. I dont think other squads are better i think a lot are even

We were second best all over the pitch first twenty at the weekend tbf.
It's not saying much but the teamwork was the best I've seen under Ross since January. No Maja to hide behind and McGeady wasn't carrying the team.

One step at a time but there was some good performances overall.

Willis, McLaughlin, Dobson, Embleton, McNulty.

Five new first team players.

In the Play-Off final and our first game of the season vs Oxford, there was only Flanagan who played in both as an outfield player.

McGeady has progressed. I'm not sure how you can judge anyone else on their progression unless you watched them play before they signed for us?

The transformation of Rochdale from last season is incredible. Very limited footballers playing decent football. If that manager had our squad we’d walk this league. We seem to play in flashes ( usually after the opposition score and or we make a substitute).

There will always be room for improvement - we’re a league 1 team for a reason. While I will clap like a seal when we win and gnash my teeth when we don’t, I’m trying to take the long term view.

We have a mistake-making, learning on the job young manager and owners who are far from billionaire Arab Sheikhs. They’re doing ok though.

I’m content to be out of the churn this club is used to and want to have the patience to let things pan out.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. I don’t think some of us really appreciate what this really means.

maybe so Riv but it was us flagging at the end last night, hanging on for the win against Rochdale ffs, I find it quite embarrassing actually. Lets face facts, with better finishing we would have been left with a point and this board would have been in flames, that win papered over the obvious cracks and we need to improve massively imho
