Let's be honest without Stokes we're fucked, not just for this series but beyond. He's the glue that holds the side together. The one thing this England side had over everyone else was a strong middle order but without Stokes it's nothing, with players batting too high or too low. The balance he brought to the side, the batting and the bowling, is being sorely missed. More than we could have ever imagined.

There is no doubt, he is very good player, but I hope the England players don't think like yourself, as whenever he is unavailable we are knackered.

They is still some very good players in the England side, and they need to be positive without him, they can't dwell on it, he is not there and we need to focus on what lies ahead.

Absolutely the players can't be thinking like that at all and I hope they're not. As a supporter I'm entitled to be worried though.

Wood will play the dead rubbers once this Test has been lost. As for team:

Cook
Stoneman
Jennings
Root
Foakes
Bairstow
Ali
Woakes
Overton
Broad
Anderson

Good shout. I think Malan's done enough to keep his place though. And we all know, if either he or Vince is dropped it will be Joe's mate Gary who plays.

I think Malan has done fine, really. That #3 is difficult, whoever plays. Of course, Jennings hasn't looked great in tests, to date.

A few journos on twitter saying no team changes only Bairstow to 6 and Ali to 7.

Thing is, if they want to go down that route and keep the best players in the places they are most comfortable, then it would make more sense to bite the bullet and put Woakes at 6 and put Bairstow and Ali back to 7 and 8 respectively.

Doesn't make much sense, but makes more than the tinkering around they are doing now.

Vince is a lucky man to keep his place. I’ll be surprised if he gets over 20. He’s just not up to it.

I think it's got to be the selectors not wanting to lose face and binning their man after 2 tests.

He’s had a fair few tests albeit only 2 in oz. you’re probably right though....if your face fits

They've brought him back on the back of no form in the Championship and will leave him in to try and prove a point.
