Things you learnt at school you have never used - ever.

Critical path analysis, remember it being absolutely rock hard for GCSE level. The teacher said it was being dropped from the syllabus after our year because it was deemed too hard.

Came up in the exam as well big ten marker.

I can safely say I have never calculated the time something takes from a to b, while factoring the in the direction of a current and the angle and direction of the moving object. (i might be remembering it wrong if there are maths gurus on here. it was 21 year ago)

Think the thing we all have to remember is that school has to prepare you generally for a wide range of jobs.

I actually do know a couple of people who need to know those geographical concepts for work (not Geography teachers either).

Whilst I’ve never needed to know how to etch a circuit board since school some people do.

In my previous job I needed to know inside out how a plant cell works.
Is it osmosis?

In terms of question posed by op:

1) stuff about glaciers
2) anything to do with religious education
3) anything to do with music

What was not taught

Personal fina ce planning

Heard a decent argument that these seemingly pointless tasks are a way of teaching you how to learn, which you can apply to useful things.

Doesn't really help if kids are so bored and disinterested they don't bother trying.

Out geography teacher had a process for making sure everyone got high marks at GSCE geography. For glaciation he would say you can get good marks by just being able to know what everything was and being able to describe it. He came up with the concept that if you looked up in the exam you would always see your class mates, so give everyone a name and said if you couldn't remember look up.

you wouldnt get away with some of them now.

The tallest (craigywatt) was a pyramidal peak.
The edgy person was an arête
the fat kid was zone of accumulation
the gay kid was soft snow
I was truncated spurs,

its daft but it worked and i will never forget them.

Apparently children who learn a 2nd language when young have much better learning abilities.

I think it causes actual physiological (is that the word?) changes In the brain.

We should be doing that.
