Things that will forever haunt you from our League 1 era?

Just about everything from Parkinson’s reign.

Club announcement like we’d hit the jackpot appointing him, Spending an entire pre-season stalking Danny Graham, long ball football, Callum McFadders, setting up for a draw against “quality” opposition like Burton. The man was rancid, the period the worst in our history.

Flip side! I liked seeing some of the younger players coming through in league one and knowing from the first time of watching them they were going on to bigger things. Jamaal Lowe and Aribo really spring to mind here! There's definitely value in players from that league and we should always keep a look out!
Bang on with that mate. Kieffar moore was another one. We beat Barsnsley
4-2 at home but he ran us ragged that night and now playing in the premiership. Ethan pinnock aswell now playing for Brentford

Lee Burge's penalty save v Lincoln in the playoff 2nd leg, was just furious we were actually in that position. Then fkn max power thinking it was clever to shoot from 40 yards with the very last chance of the game

Reading the Jack Baldwin thread brought back some horrific memories from League 1…

Jack Ross not making a sub or changing the shape at half time during the 4-5 game against Coventry.
Signing Lee Burge after watching him in that first half against us.
Mandron’s equaliser against us just before Covid.
Grigg’s miss against MK Dons from inside the 6 yard box.

Some very bleak times during our League 1 spell.

I think I’d give up on football if we were ever relegated again.

Amazing how far we’ve come as a team/club on the field in such a short space of time.
That we could easily go back

It was a f***ing torrid time mind… Donald & Methven. Jock 1–1 Ross, Parkyball, Lee bomb ally Johnson.

Watching shite like Mcfadzean and Danny Graham who was never any good anyway at the end of his career.

Signing Defoe was canny mental as well with how it panned out! All in all it was mental… those pizza cup games the SoL with only one stand open!!

Ross electing to play Lewis Morgan playing ahead of Gooch at Wembley. For some reason I've always thought that could have been the difference.

Parkinson playing 352 at Gillingham, Conor McLaughlin and Laurens De Bock as wing backs, supplying Grigg and McNulty up front. We were dominated for the whole game and conceded to lose 1-0 in the dying minutes. McGeady, Maguire and Watmore on the bench.

f***ing horrendous.

Remember 120 mins and one shot on target against Gillingham and we were competitive apparently

Because I live in Perth, WA, the games would be on quite late for me. I would wake up at 1am or 2am to watch the games (much like you lot up there for the US games just gone by), and during the Jack Ross era, if we went 1-0 up, I would just turn the match off and head back to bed. I knew after a little of watching his tactics he would shut up shop, and try to hold on to that 1-0 lead, invite the opposition to attack, and they would eventually equalize and we would draw 1-1. After a while, it was not worth the pain at work the next day to watch that shite.

Reading this thread has brought up some horrible, repressed nightmares again. Some of the players we had, especially in the Parky era was atrocious!

Wycombe wanderers

Pompey 4 - 0 The Lads in a f*cking monsoon. Made even worse by the fact I lived there. Even that useless plank Marquis scored.
Yup. Watching their ground staff with a fuck off massive tractor thing clearing surface water on our back line at half time. Took f***ing gallons of water off.

Observing at the same time, one bloke using a brush on their back line moving about three pints of water off the pitch.
