Things Brits think nothing of but considered rude to other countries?

I was chased down street for leaving a tip my first night in Japan

Also never put chopsticks directly up in your food, evokes funeral rites

Odd one, never clear your plate in someone elses home. It insinuates they didnt feed you enough. Leave a little, place chopsticks side by side and chill

As do I.

Shoes straight off which ever house I am entering. Have been told several times not to worry but really doesn't feel right walking into a house with them on.

I always have a pair of woolly socks in my rucksack. I go barefoot all year round so when taking my sandals off and leave them by the front door I put on the woolly socks instead when I enter someone's home. I do that everywhere I go. When playing pool in Sunderland as well for that matter.

The Spanish laugh at our public displays of drunkedness and to be fair if you live in some of those holiday towns youd probably hate us.
And Spanish TV makes a big thing about the pissed up Brits Desire to jump into a swimming pool from height on his holidays and thereby suffering life threatening injuries or in some cases death.

Balconing they call It.

Do Spanish youths not do daft shite?

In mine, you come in the front door and walk down the hall into the kitchen, so I just walk through and put my stuff down on the bench, then go back to the hall to take my coat and shoes off. She said she would put the stuff down at the front door and take her shoes off first.

Shoes in the house is a weird one. I'd never thought about it until meeting my wife who is Polish and it's unheard of over there. It's mental that people are alright with you walking outside treading on all kinds of shite and then walking it into the house. It's proper rank but normalised to the point that we have never thought about it.

I check my shoes on the way into a house. If they're mucky, they come off. Otherwise they stay on unless someone asks me to remove them.

Blowing your nose loudly in public is frowned upon in South Korea

That doesn’t stop them drawing hockle from the depth of their souls.

Wearing shoes in the house is bad manners in Norway. My sons lass always takes her shoes off at the front door.

On the South Korean theme: you attract ghosts into you home if you wear shoes in the house. All houses/ apartments have an area at the front door to change into slippers.

I insist that people remove footwear before entering our house. The only people who try to leave their shoes on tend to be regular visitors from near London.
