The way we're playing...

I think expectations need to settle a little, despite our league position, I'd still suggest our squad isn't in the top three of the league and whilst it would be great to strengthen, there isn't a lot of wiggle room for numbers or wage budget.

Ideally I'd see cb, rb, cm and a striker within the squad to strengthen but doubt its possible at the minute.

How long is Evans and 09 contract?
Got to disagree on that point, our squad is easily top 3 in the league, and hopefully will be stronger after January window

Thats fine, of course, football all about opinions etc. Last I looked at the squads, imo, we were in a 2nd group of about 4th - 8th squad wise.

I'm really surprised that we have been able to do as well as we are at the minute and think its great credit to the coach.

We have far better technical players in our squad than anyone in this division, we just struggle with the physical side at times.

I feel like the place is electric at the minute. The football is class, the team spirit looks class, being linked with top players in January. Not felt like this since the Keane season, we are on the up.

I agree, we look good technically, more to the game than that mind, especially at this level.

People go on about mcgeady like a demi god where as Dobson is spoke of with derision. Dobson has a better ppg ratio with the club in this league by distance.

Defo

SMB is on fire at the minute too

Us top of the league. Skunks capitulating. And every thread is packed with mad as fuck opinions like “wish we had Scowen back sometimes” “Scunthorpe have a bigger support proportionate to total population” “Barry bannan is the league one David silva” etc

Class. Long may it continue.

PPG for a player with the club doesn't mean a great deal, you can't compare mcgeady to Dobson, Dobson wasn't good technically or physically

Whilst I agree, the whole rating Dobson thing is a step too far imo. The hower doesn't even look like a footballer. Doesn't have the running gait or owt that resembles good technique. He's literally the worst midfielder I've ever seen play for us.

I reckon his mam doesn't even think he's any good.

I agree - that's why I don't get why some people are saying we need 5 or 6 signings.

I was listening to a podcast yesterday saying that we need 5 or 6 signings, but we only need players who are going to come in and strengthen the team. In other words, even though we are top of the league, we need to replace most of the team - really?

Personally, if we got good cover for Stewart, a good replacement for Broadhead, and maybe a central midfielder to play alongside Neil with a better injury record than Evans, that would do me.

I think expecting 5 or 6 players in January is nonsense really. Far too many players to sign, never mind actually fit into the team in time to make an impact.

2 or 3 is a reasonable expectation. We obviously need another striker. Another winger would also be a priority for me.

After that a right fullback/wingback would be useful but maybe not essential. I still have concerns about our defence but so long as everyone else up the pitch is playing well we can maybe get away with it.

Were playing real class footy at the moment . Its taken a while for the players. manager. coaches, loan players and new players to gel and its now looking like the combination is working. We should fear No One in league one . Let them fear us.

But mentally excellent, all about opinions. I like ppg for players as opposed to a general view that I often disagree with.

I see Charltons form changed coinciding with him coming back into the side and he did a job on our lot when Charlton came up here.

Assuming the Roberts story has legs, the winger may well be in place. As yuo say, striker is the obvious position we need. As it stands, if Stewart is out, we're looking at one of Kimpioka or Harris up front or a false 9 (Gooch in another role?).

Right back may depend on how long Huggins is out for.

...coupled with the players we've still got to bring back in, (Huggins, Cirkin, Winchester, Xhemajli and the likes), the players we bring in are going to have to be real quality to shift what we already have.

Every one of our team last night, looked like they were staking their claim, not just for the rest of this season, but like they want to be part of our championship starting lineup.

What an awful problem to have. 😎
Not too many of them are championship standard

PPG for a player in a team can be very misleading though, as you could have a really good player playing in a poor side near the bottom of the league

My big concern is upsetting the balance.

Watching the last two games we’ve absolutely found a winning formula. Pritchard looks every bit the player we thought we’d get, the system suits Stewart and our midfield, and you could see within two minutes last night, there was space to exploit with the formation we are playing.

If/when we get players back or sign players, I hope and pray we don’t do what we done last year and change a winning formula to shoehorn others in. We went through a spell of chopping and changing earlier in the season and look how that went. Hope and pray LJ has learned his lessons, we wrap our key players in cotton wool, and we don’t change it too much.

One of my biggest cheers last night was Pritchard coming off at 4-0. Great decision by Johnson, we need him to keep this going.
My concerns exactly with recovering players and potential inbound signings.
LJ is doing well with the guys but it has been somewhat forced upon him, hope it doesn’t get changed for the sake of change.
