The way we're playing...

Maybe so, but you can't ignore that they were supported by Evans last night. With those three you do need that extra bite from somewhere, whether it be Evans or Winchester.

Embleton's quietly come into good form at just the right time to supplement Neil and Pritchard.
i didnt mention evans because he can be replaced to equal effect......the other 3 cant they dont just play well individually they all seem on the same wavelength ....and it shows

Xhemajli has been back for a while now and can’t even get an appearance from the bench so I don’t think he is likely to play unless we get an injury crisis with our centre backs.

Just the one cm in that position for me and that hasn't changed tbh. Want to see someone come in who can break the play up there.

Evans did a fairly good job of it last night and is way more comfortable at taking the ball from a defender but he's been struggling with form/injuries. Tin hat on but I'd play him ahead of Winchester if he can stay fit.

Striker/forward is a must. One that can play up top or wide would be ideal and if Alves goes back we need another CB. Again one that can play in the middle or wide if necessary would be good.

If we fill those positions then we are in a good position for depth and competition and then only really need to bring someone in if they add a real increase in quality.

centre back and striker are key I'd suggest

We dont need a full back now the 2 wingers are playing as wing backs

I'd wanted a centre mid but not convinced now with Embleton and Pritchard playing so central

Whether its design or luck we have found our formula that suits our players

We've found our best midfield

Winchester can play if Evans gets injured, but embleton, neil and pritchard are better

I think there are still question marks about us away from home at the physical sides and Wycombe will be a big test
I thought last night would be a big test.
Well, it was and we passed it with distinction.

...coupled with the players we've still got to bring back in, (Huggins, Cirkin, Winchester, Xhemajli and the likes), the players we bring in are going to have to be real quality to shift what we already have.

Every one of our team last night, looked like they were staking their claim, not just for the rest of this season, but like they want to be part of our championship starting lineup.

What an awful problem to have. 😎
Points on the board and top going into the new year. Rivals with a fixture pileup. Avoid any more significant longterm injuries, add quality competition, bring back players like Huggins for the run in… lots of variables but we are in our best position to escape this godawful pit of a division thus far. Haway the lads.

I think Neil's the key like. Get him the ball and he picks the passes.

And Dajaku has been a revelation of late.

I have no criticism of Kimpioka last night, but for the time he was on, you can hardly make an assessment. Took his goal well.
If I have to pick something with Kim it’s that most teams wouldn’t have allowed him the amount of time he had to take a touch and place his shot so close to their goal and he probably should have just shot first time.

I think expectations need to settle a little, despite our league position, I'd still suggest our squad isn't in the top three of the league and whilst it would be great to strengthen, there isn't a lot of wiggle room for numbers or wage budget.

Ideally I'd see cb, rb, cm and a striker within the squad to strengthen but doubt its possible at the minute.

How long is Evans and 09 contract?
Evans has 18 months plus a years option. Onien ha another 2.5 years. I think the long term position for LON influences whether rb or cm is more important. My guess is that it’s better to prioritise cm.

You could argue he knew he had lots of time so was wise to make the most of it. ;)

Playing well and momentum building, but there's still that nagging doubt in the back of the mind that we could go on another bad run, as the last one seemed to come from nowhere. The odd poor result will happen of course, but Johnson can't afford another bad streak of say 6 results, needs to put that reputation to bed.

As a minimum i'd say we need a right back and a striker. Not sure when Huggins is back like who would be the right back but i still think we need one. Possibly need two strikers now. An injury to Stewart which will happen at some point and we're in bother so we need a competitor for him and although i think Kimpioka has enough to make the squad i think if we choose to play a 2 which we will need to at soem point we also need Broadhead replacing there. Broadhead needs to go back sadly to get our squad strength back up. I'm not for too many players though. AOB should go to make this possible and Alves for the right back slot.

Centre half is an interesting one. I’d argue we have enough numbers right now and the quality is probably just about good enough. Problem is, none of them are currently contracted to us for next season. If we could find a centre half we were willing to commit to - ideally one with pace and maybe one who could provide extra rb cover in the short term - it’d definitely be an area I’d look at.

A lot less than if we were promoted last year. Especially if we get Doyle on the reported 2 year loan
Exactly this

Could anyone honestly say they felt confident going up and staying up with Wyke, Dobson, Scowen, Power, McFadzean (shudder), Leadbitter, Remi Mathews, McLaughlin etc hovering around our 1st XI?

We are stronger across the starting side this season, lacking depth and injury cover is all. We are carrying a bit of League One dead weight still like Aiden O’Brien. Players like him and Grigg are destined for this division herein (or lower). Promotion or not I’m glad the latter is on his way in the summer and off our wage bill for good.
