The way we're playing...

...coupled with the players we've still got to bring back in, (Huggins, Cirkin, Winchester, Xhemajli and the likes), the players we bring in are going to have to be real quality to shift what we already have.

Every one of our team last night, looked like they were staking their claim, not just for the rest of this season, but like they want to be part of our championship starting lineup.

What an awful problem to have. 😎

The lads are playing very well and im convinced we’ll be promoted, but for the championship we’d need quite a few players bringing in

I agree - that's why I don't get why some people are saying we need 5 or 6 signings.

I was listening to a podcast yesterday saying that we need 5 or 6 signings, but we only need players who are going to come in and strengthen the team. In other words, even though we are top of the league, we need to replace most of the team - really?

Personally, if we got good cover for Stewart, a good replacement for Broadhead, and maybe a central midfielder to play alongside Neil with a better injury record than Evans, that would do me.

Would have to be a bloody good central midfielder to dislodge Neil, Broadhead, Winchester and Embleton, on current form. 😎

Spot on, everyone to a man is playing well and that coupled with that real desire to keep pressing even when we are leading just demoralised Wednesday.
They must have thought christ they are 4 nil up and still keep coming at us, we were relentless. It wasn't really until we got the 5th that we took our foot off the pedal a little and played a bit keep ball, having said that we still created a few great opportunities to make it 6.

Watching the goals again this morning I appreciate even more some of our build up play, Stewart's 3rd was a joy to watch. Some brilliant play by Gooch who ran rings around his marker before floating the ball out to Dajaku who heads it down first time to Bailey Wright who takes a touch and floats a fantastic cross onto Stewart's head.
Absolute quality all round.

This will have been said 100s of times but this transfer window really is going to be one of the biggest of recent times if the board back Johnson and strengthen in areas such as Striker CM and Full back this should be the year we finally escape league 1

Yes, I agree. I'm not even sure we need one. I'm just thinking that Winchester may be needed at right back, may get injured, and although I love the thought of a midfield three of Neil, Embleton, and Pritchard, I'm not sure you would want to go into, say, Wycombe away with that midfield.

In good form at the minute but there will be dips. There's still a lot that needs be added to the squad.
Everyone throughout the club - including the fanbase - need to keep their heads during the next dip.

It's tough to separate recency bias from stuff that is genuine new information. I'm trying to do it myself while trying to work out what I think we need in January. Would have previously said two midfielders and a striker were the key, but with Evans finally showing green shoots, Pritchard now dominant on ball (and a terrier off it) and Embleton seemingly on his way a transition to orthodox central midfielder I would think we should be fine with one. Still such a long way to go, though, and it will all have changed again in a couple of weeks. Only three weeks ago, many were talking about us needing a new left back in January - not without some justification! My guess is that we need a strong midfielder and an all-round striker as a matter of urgency. We can then sit back to see if anything interesting pops up elsewhere.
