The vaccine thread

For those lucky ones who don't have Twitter, can you give a summary of what Bill Gates said in your own words.

He basically said what we have known for ages and was clearly predicted when the vaccines were being produced - they save lives but arent good at preventing infection and dont have a long duration of effectiveness. Actually for the initial variant the vaccine was much better at preventing infection than predicted but the newer variants have changed the picture.

This is nothing about the vaccine its just how immunity to coronavirus is - whether you get immunity from a natural infection or vaccine you are still vulnerable to re-infection and the antibody levels drop off quickly.

The fact it is very good at stopping you from dying should be enough but it never will be for some folk. Thankfully 90%+ of the population dont think like this so the vaccine sceptics are in the minority

shouldnt we all have died by now or something if the nutters were to be believed
Some unlucky people have, and some have serious health problems.
Certainly destroyed the anti-anti-vax narrative that all vaccines are inherently safe.
Was the only way we were getting out of that mess though

The UK has become the first country to approve a dual vaccine which tackles both the original Covid virus and the newer Omicron variant
