The vaccine thread

But what if other areas haven't been able to do their over 80s because they do t have enough vaccine. Should NE potentially be doing 70 and under if places are crying out for vaccine for their 80 year olds
It doesn’t say anything about it being because they haven’t been able to get enough vaccines though. And I’m not convinced we’d have had more. Imagine a 75 year old with an appointment to go next week being told sorry you can’t go now.

Yes, yes they should.
That doesn't sound overly socialist from a socialist.. sounds like selfishness to me

And imagine if you are an 80 year old in Devon and told you can't have it cos the vaccine has gone to a 75 year old

But that’s not what it’s saying is happening, do you truly believe we’ve had more vaccines per head in the NE than down South.
I don’t

It's all based on demographic.. the rules from the outset was to get some specific groups done before moving to next groups.

If you have completed that group then great.. means protected earlier.. but if the only reason the others haven't completed that group is because of lackmof vaccine then they need to be given it

Do you think it would happen the other way around. I don’t.
And if they haven’t had enough why not? We are being penalised because we have managed to vaccinate the first group and have moved onto the next vulnerable group who now probably won’t get vaccinated

The world won’t get back to normal until everyone whose vulnerable has had it. Places exist beyond Sunderland and you might want to visit them some time in the near future.....

This says we have vaccinated more, including half of over 80’s which means over half haven’t been vaccinated so if we are now only getting half the supply then that means less of that other half of over 80’s won’t.
That’s not taking them to other parts of the country so over 80’s can be vaccinated there because we are vaccinating less vulnerable groups

I’ve just posted the article from the Chronicle we have only vaccinated half of our over 80’s according to that, so why shift from our over 80’s to other areas over 80’s.
It blows out the argument of giving it to over 80’s elsewhere because it’s fairer than giving it to over 70’s here.

So the allowance the area is getting will allow you to finish off your over 80s

So is this story similar to when everyone on here was kicking off before vaccines were rolled out that all the vaccines were being diverted to London first? Which turned out not to be the case?

i would have imagined that some of this was a supply issue and it may be that supplies are slightly more limited and this will change with increased supply. Whatever the NE has done an excellent job and the staff delivering need our tanks
