The vaccine thread

But he won’t be involved in decision will he, if we are to change course that decision will be taken by JCVI who set the policy in the first place and whist that body comprises many eminent scientist valance is not one of them

2 million jabs In last week

Covid: Nearly 2m UK people got first Covid vaccine in last week

Involved or not I think it will be reviewed, there is massive extra data available now from real life scenarios.

Is real life data ‘better’ than trial data? Trial data is controlled and specific, while real life data is more widespread, gives a more practical view, but could be skewed by things outside of your control. Serious question.

The real life data is better, much more spread leading to better percentages

Martin Gannon leader of Gateshead council just posted this.

The media is reporting that vaccine supply to the NE is to be cut by up to 50%
Apparently we’ve been too good, too efficient in the vaccine roll out.
Obviously this is an absolute kick in the teeth for all those who’ve worked flat out night and day on the project.
We’re being punished because we’re too good, too efficient. Because we have the best PUBLIC health network/partnership in the country. Because we haven’t privatised and outsourced everything in sight to the private sector.
The excuse is “this will allow other areas to catch up”
However this ignores the fact that the NE has greater needs, that we have greater numbers of people who are more vulnerable in the lower age group
For God’s sake, why the hell do they think we were working so hard?!!!!!

What a f@cking joke.

Punished for being better.

Same way that we stayed in the higher tiers even when we were the only part of the country trending downwards in cases etc.

I can understand it's a pisser bit if the vaccines are needed so areas can complete the over 80s then it's understandable.

Notice it says GP numbers cut . Doesn't say anything about the hospital, vaccination centre numbers...??

Government halving our supply because we are going so quickly 😡

In fairness, London will have more over 80’s and if they not had enough vaccine to cover those at highest risk isn’t it right they get more to catch up?

Do you think it would happen the other way around. I don’t.
And if they haven’t had enough why not? We are being penalised because we have managed to vaccinate the first group and have moved onto the next vulnerable group who now probably won’t get vaccinated

But what if other areas haven't been able to do their over 80s because they do t have enough vaccine. Should NE potentially be doing 70 and under if places are crying out for vaccine for their 80 year olds

I can honestly say mate that the roll out up here has been nothing short of brilliant. A lot of people have worked around the clock and we are now being penalised due to the fact we got things up and running first. Shocking really.

I know nurses and medical staff in all parts of the country and they are working just as hard and as efficient..

Sadiq Khan was crying the other day that London weren’t getting their fair share or something, though I’d be surprised if that had anything to do with it as they usually take no notice of him
