The U.S. and U.K. Were the Two Best Prepared Nations to Tackle a Pandemic—What Went Wrong?

Find it surprising that Germany is down on 14th in the list and not in the high category although I haven't looked at the scoring.
Also find it strange that people go on about scoring political points when it's been the political ideology, jobs for the boys and lack of clear, open joined up working that's contributed to the amount of deaths.
 


We were badly prepared reportedly in 2016 when cygnus happened, nothing was done for several years other than the government systematically destroying and underfunding the NHS yet we are suddenly well prepared? Add to that the idiots in government and its no surprise they fucked so much up

Agreed. We've sold what's worth anything to private companies, leaving the less well off to suffer the consequences. They were aware of the threat in 2016, as you say but, since Blair, they have denuded us of what was the greatest positive about the UK. 'Merica, medically, has been fucked for even longer, but Trump has put it into overdrive.
Public Inquiry, 5 years down the line and no politicians are to blame. Scientists, staticticians and The Health/Care Sevices will be the whipping boys.

I have wondered about a weird situation two years down the line where the usa has virtually immunity cos so many people are getting infected now
