Hes a good keeper but he does have more comedy fuck ups than most. I remember one from Gerrard a season or so back that was cracking

He'll make some canny enough saves, but I've never seen another keeper at this level leave me so dumbfounded as to what the fuck he was trying to do. Gomes, Green, Robinson etc for example, drop clangers, but their's are simply them screwing up a save/catch - i.e. trying to save something and just not saving it.

Jaaskelainen more often than not leaves you wondering "what the hell are you trying to do?". I know it was over a decade ago, but the Johnston one is a classic example. A 35 yard shot that could have been caught in his chest, and instead he drops to his knees and tries to slap the ball up into the air. You can see Johnston turn around with a look of "eh?"

I think we're talking about the same one. See post #81. Warthog I think he was called. A right ******* he was.
I'm sure thats the name as well. I found those articles he wrote strange, and very bitter.

Much like some views on this thread to be honest

Agree with ya like, strange keeper at times, and although I think he is a good keeper, he is nothing special

I think there's gonna be a lot of devastated Bolton fans when Jussi & Kevin Davies retire. They love them two pretty hard.

Depends, we have two promising keepers in Al Habsi (On loan at Wigan) and a young lad, Bogdan. It will be a shame when Big Kev retires, but as long as we have a replacement lined up then it's all good :)

It's not about whether we deserve to beat a side or not. With the side we have and the way we play, we should have enough in us to beat these poor sides. Fulham looked poor. Granted we weren't a great deal better but for the away side we created some good chances. Like Tartan said, we created the better opportunities and again I reiterate, I think we should have won.

Spot on. They had that scramble on the line and that was it. All those "on target shots" were like back passes. Benty fucked up the break away - we should've won the game there, and it would have been fully deserved.

Fair play, just every Bolton fan I've ever encountered only mentions those two! Its an odd one, as its not like you're reliant on them.

BTW, you might wanna give this a read - Invalid/outdated Link Removed

Excellent, SAFC v Bolton for sixth place claim.

Should be canny for the neutral and not like the usual *SAFC v Bolton fixture of Sky giving the knackers their slot and slice of the cash shite reluctantly (switch home & away team for any of 12 teams)

Ha, ha just read their second forum:-

Sunderland 2 Bolton Wanderers 1, April 1976

It was Easter Monday, the sun was shining and 52,000 - well 51,983 - crammed into Roker Park to see Sunderland beat Bolton 2-1 and win promotion back to the old first division. I was 12 and living in a tiny village called Staploe in Bedfordshire but still clearly remember the long journey up and down the A1 to Roker with my Sunderland-supporting father. Back then Bolton boasted Peter Thompson - a wonderful talent - as well as Peter Reid and the atmosphere inside the ground was incredibly tense. Tony Towers gave Sunderland the lead from the penalty spot before Bryan 'Pop' Robson added a second. Bolton pulled one back but Sunderland held on and I drank a celebratory orange and tonic in the Scotch Corner Hotel en route home. Louise Taylor

I was on Roker Park that day too. In the terrace facing the main stand. The end behind the goal was that full you couldn't get in (not all Bolton)
Fantastic game that swung each way with good attaching football. I do remember that Sunderland edged it and with the Roker Roar driving their side on.

I think he might just be right :)

The problem we have now is that other teams will see beating us a massive scalp, meaning they'll probably put more effort into it, last season we lost 4-0[down to 10 men] the season before that we won 4-1 and lost 2-1 in the cup, this season I reckon we will win.

We have nothing to fear, sure they have Bent and other good players like Gyan and have home advantage but we have Elmander, Holden etc and I'm going for a 2-1 win for the whites, Cahill and Elmander.

I think that Bolton fan is getting a bit carried away.

They're a strong and organised outfit who move the ball around well. We will need to be at our best to beat them. Having said that nowadays I go into every home game expecting a positive result and that's no diffrerent here.

2-0 Sunderland

No, he's f***ing shit. He spends half of his time on his arse or his belly, flapping around like a ****. The goal he let in all those years ago from Allan Johnston appears to have been the first of many "******* moments".
Have to disagree.

Consistently decent Premier League keeper for many years. At the time we were linked with him, we'd have been doing cartwheels if we signed him.

He's at least on par with any we have.

On a general note, I they are now a decent team. Coyle seems to be getting the best out of Elmander, Petrov was a cracking signing, Holden looks a good player and they look very dangerous coming forward. If we have a bad day, we could get a hiding.

Well you would say that. Migs and Gordon combined could not muster a single bollock dropping moment to rival the many that Jaaskelainen has accumulated.
Only because Jaaskelainen has ten times more Premiership games than the pair combined !

At the time, before we signed Gordon, Jaaskelainen would have been a major coup.

Jaaskelainen is a decent keeper, at least on par with Gordon. I rate both highly.
