The system.

They've played long enough together to be able to work as a team.. they shouldn't need the boss to be constantly shouting at them. Work rate... which was NON EXISTENT today should be a given.. pressing as a team.. being able to pass to one another..

You know what made me laugh today .. I was watching them practice their shouting before the match... They must have had 20 shots at Mannone and scored 2.

There is a massive net behind the goal and STILL hit it into the crowd..

Piss poor.

Terrified though to play a higher line is my point. Pressing and passing fair enough, I agree.

fuck off mag

Mate. Don't dare will you. You obviously don't know me. I am involved and have helped many fans with Safc Matters.

Put the beers down. If you want, I will buy you one at the next game.

There were 2 plays in a central striking position with Johnson not far behind. The midfield were pushing forward and leaving large gaps between them and the defence. As opposed to our normal 10 men behind the ball.

For better or worse, he changed the system. You said yourself we were unable to keep the ball, this was partly the reason why.

We never. He players were dragged. It wasn't it of choice. We never, once went for the game. It was the same. We got sloppy and tired.

We don't press as a team, as soon as the opposition get the ball we drop off to the edge of our own box. Understandable and maybe sensible against the likes of chelsea. I can even accept it away from home. Doing it against hull at home is dreadful and raises real questions about the rest of the season.

It was the players for me today. Just didn't happen. I know what the OP is trying to say though I've been saying similar for the last few weeks. Today though it looked like we went 442 when Joxy come on and looked even worse. Last week Pardew gambled and we won so just shows the fine margins. Today was a poor performance but too much over analysing going on.

I disagree, we were shit, sloppy and tired yes but the way we try to play the game was clearly changed.

Hull have targeted Catts the last few times we've played them now. I don't think its no coincidence that him and Larson were quiet today and we didn't perform. Starting Bridcutt today might of been worth a try.

TBF to Gus... He was constantly shouting at his players to get out.. They were sitting so fkn deep it was like 8 at the back!
That's what happens though. When games don't go to plan, players often revert to type and for us that means dropping off and defending deep as that's what's we do best. And to be fair, that's the only system we look comfortable playing. Football's like that, its difficult to be defensive one week and attacking the next when one system is so primarily ingrained into the players' psyche. That's why the better sides are neither overly attacking or defensive. Unfortunately, we've lost that balance somewhere down the line and gone too far in one direction and its not going to be an easy fix to put right.

This is the system we play. Numerous times today the defenders were backing away from players as if to defend a certain area/zone on the pitch. No way are the players doing that off their own back, its this system.

not going to plan? We scored inside a minute. Yet we still dropped off, find it hard to believe that isn't on instruction.

This, it's a definite plan, it's one of the reasons we have done pretty well against the better teams and away but been woeful at home to the poorer sides.

True, but we scored before we had time to get a foothold in the game in regards of actually playing and once they started to come into it. That's when our reluctance to get forward really kicked in and we reverted to type.

We cant play 442 because our midfield isn't powerful or strong enough to cope, doesn't matter what system we play poyet gets critised anyway, it was the same formation as mags game and we won that, everytime we get beat people are out in force to slag the team off. We are a average premier team who are going to win games and lose our fair share people as we always have, people need to wake up and realise that
It was the manner we got beat in why most are moaning on here - at the very least we should be winning 50/50 balls and chasing lost causes - anyone who thinks today's efforts are a consequence of being an average team should give their head a shake

embarassing yersell there lad hes no more mag than you are

the system is there to serve the manager and his desire not to lose........... not to win but not to lose

Thanks for that. The idiot doesn't know what he is saying. Considering my link with Safc and the draft into it and helping others on his board.

every time we get beat people on here say it was lack of effort, what a load of shite! It was nothing to do with effort it was constantly giving the ball away that was the problem. Plus there 1st goal was a fluke, and 2 of the most blatant handballs u will see. Doesn't matter how bad u are playing u get those pens its game over
