What’s in it for an investor in SAFC?
Especially if not from the area and no visceral connection to the city or club?
I think Drumaville liked the idea of mixing with the big boys and maybe making some profit. Who knows how much dosh they walked away with?
Short maybe thought likewise but it’s been a financial disaster for him.
Accepting that our current (mis)fortunes mean that the sale price is comparatively much cheaper than when we were in the Prem, you’d still have to be an optimist to think you could see any financial gain any time soon. Any buyer would have to sink a lot of cash in on the front end.
So what’s in it for them?

Depends. Look at Millwall, came 6th in league one (a league where you don't need to spend much to compete) and with minimal investment are challenging for play offs. If ran properly, with the advantage of a decent academy presumably producing players easily good enough for league one, there is a decent chance they could look to get us back in the prem without massive outlay.

They'd then either try to back us further and enjoy the ride or, more likely, they'd sell the club. In the top flight there is profit to be made thanks to the massive tv deal, if they could get us up with few/ no debts and costs well under control (a big ask, not a quick thing, but could potentially happen in 5 or 6 years) then they could make a big profit, in addition to enjoying owning a club in the meantime

Could not care less. If he wants to take on SAFC at our lowest ebb then he’s a brave man and I’ll welcome him regardless of his previous plastic allegiances

there is obviously a story behind that photo. As you if the man wants to rescue us, then it matters not a jot. as there are other local investors as we are led to believe, things can only get better.

This. There is no substitute for good management - certainly in the third division and the second division.
