The Summer rebuild.

Speakman has responsibility for all football operations. So the system comes from him, with recruitment handled by Harvey, data from the analysts, Dickman running the academy. Johnson the first team, and Reay the lasses. If it works they'll all be pulling in the same direction.
You are quoting lots of names but it doesnt change the fact that the system did not come from Speakman. He has responsibility for its success as part of his portfolio and was one of a panel of people who has recruited Harvey but he had nothing much to do with the recruitment of the data guys. Not because the system is disjointed but because it is not his absolute area of specialism.
How we going to replace Grigg, eh?

And Charlie Wyke won't be on big bucks. He'll be asking for it now, maybe, but not currently.

What do you regard as big bucks?

Charlie Wyke is/was on huge wages compared to most of his team mates let alone the rest of the division.

Its a mess anyway you look at it.

We brought in players that were worse than we had in Vokins and Winchester (only SAFC could manage that given our LB and central midfield personel) and we let one of our own kids go out on loan who is then intregal in getting his club likely promoted whilst we played O'Brien who offered the square root of absolutely nothing.

Whoever sanctioned this at the Club should be looking for a new job in my opinion.

Can sort of understand Vokins and Winchester. We needed a LB and squad limit this time did stop us getting one over 20.

Also needed cheap back up to Leadbitter who was struggling with the number of games. Especially after Dobson asked to leave and Power said he didn't want to play in CM anymore. We had Scowen and Leadbitter to play in the two holding roles with no back up other than possibly O'Nien (who was just returning from a few months out but it wasn't until Feb he played a couple in midfield). For the no 10 role we had AOB, Maguire, Gooch and Embleton but only really AOB got a chance there.

I've linked the full article but that's from the horses mouth and I'm sure most fans would read it and come to the conclusion that Johnson says yes or no to what's put forward by the recruitment team.
Speakman gave a more nuanced version of that on the recent podcast. There are no players that Johnson will be given that he simply won’t play. That can be characterised as ‘final say’ I suppose but that’s not really what it is. Speakman said that if they’ve set out the football philosophy of the club and have the profiles for why they look for in a player agreed, there should be no reason why Johnson - or any manager following him - would refuse to play a player. Otherwise why would all parties agree the overall profile? At that point it becomes who we are able to negotiate with, who we can agree a fee for and ultimately who will agree to sign. The main driver will be who has final say over the profiles - and that will be speakman.
I'd be very surprised if it was one at a time. More likely they will have already agreed between them what they are looking for an options would be presented based on that. I doubt we will be signing players behind Johnson's back but at the same time I can't see him signing players over the head of Speakman. Ultimately Johnson has the power to say no to all of them and back to the drawing board but if they've done their research there shouldn't be a need for a veto because the players should (in theory) be the perfect fit for the brief.

If we were to sack Johnson and bring in another manager it may well be the case that the new manager is presented with the exact same players although I'd expect variances in the overall playing style from coach to coach (just huge differences).
If Johnson says no to all the players he’ll be fired as he’s refusing players who are a fit to the clubs agreed player profiles. If he does it too often he’s not aligned with what the club has decided to do.

A veritable font of knowledge you are lad ;) 👍

How the fuck did we let that happen? Why were we hoying it around when we'd just dropped down and still had the likes of Cattermole/Oviedo on the books? We were a draw enough paying league standard.

I'll take your word for it - stupid me for assuming some kind of rationality about the old regime.

Sounds like a plan. My worry with that is how will supporters react to a 3 window plan in L1. Ultimately we're hamstrung by turnover (as are all the other clubs tbf) but if fans stay away turnover drops.
Currently we have what 27 first team players and only 11 of them are contracted and half of them are deadweight. The retained list is released in two days time, but presumably we will offer at least 3-4 contracts and throw in say 5 U23s promoted to the first team and three loanees that takes us up to 23 and assuming some cash, I would use the first window to try and sign at least 3 first team players for fees and 3-4 year contracts.

My preference in window 1; would be to sort out the defence and that's a new Keeper, Sanderson and a proper right back.
Window 2; one first team signing to try and push us towards an automatic spot.
Window 3: Next Summer to either start building a championship side, or another 2-3 signings but to replace the deadweight.

It’s a huge rebuild. No senior squad contracted keeper, right back or left back. Only Dobson in central midfield and we don’t really want him. Only Gooch and Diamond as wingers and Grigg, O’Brien and Stewart as forwards so really only one forward!

Good we need a massive rebuild .The retained list is the single most important event on Wednesday for us fans.

I don’t think it’ll tell us much beyond who is still under contract and we essentially already know that.

I think only 1 player who is currently going to be out of contract will be here next year with a new contract. All others will leave.

Then out of those in contract I expect only 4 or 5 to get a squad number. So on the basis of a couple of players stepping up from u23 I think we can expect a whole lot of incoming signings.

Bet you've got a Stuart Donald tattoo.
You on something? 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Why the hell would I have said “This however is different. KLD I’m sure will do things differently. He’s not like Ellis Short or Stewart Donald” and “Everything he has said. He sounds like the real deal. Plus his boardroom appointments have been good too” if I have a tattoo of Stuart Donald?

Be interesting to see who you’re hinting at. Would hope it’s Hume or O’Nien. Not arsed about the rest. Hopefully not long until retained list is released.

so,unless said players have already been watched, when is this watching to back up data going to happen seeing as it's the close season
If you are just taking about this summer then yes it’s going to be difficult.
You would have the same problem regardless of whether you use data or not.
