22 July 8/10
Dramatisation of Anders Breiviks terrorist attacks in Norway.
That's the one. In the player now, ready for Saturday night!
Got a bit bored with this if I'm honest. 2.5hrs or something wasn't it. Directed by Greengrass I expected the horror and absolute fear of the attack on the island to be something that stayed with me for ever. With his history with action films that grip you as well as the other disaster/tragedy films he has done I just expected a bit more. The fact this bloke gunned down over 60 children in cold blood not to mention the bomb that killed a further 15 or so it seemed to focus more on the political aspect and the recovery of the survivors, which is fine, wasn't expecting a bloodthirsty action film but it just didn't engage me enough. 6.5/10
A fistful of dollars. 8/10.
Quality......Eastwood was 34 in that film and 54 years later is starring and producing in The Mule.
Got to be the most legendary filmmaker of all time .
Searching - 7.50/10
22 July - too long and shouldn’t have glorified what happened imo. 6/10
Another for Venom.
Enjoyed it - aside from the finale which was a bit unnecessary. Hardy is very good as is the Venom CGI
The House With A Clock In It's Walls.
Enjoyable enough, good scary fun for kids (the bairn (8) thought it was terrifying!)
Liam Neeson does what he does, on a train this time
A Star Is Born. Excellent effort from Gaga, she’ll go far that girl. Very good soundtrack. IMDB rating is 8.4 which would be about right.
I Tonya. Finally got round to watching this, very good film better than I was expecting. Mind you her family (especially her mother) are just mad as a box frogs, I mean they are just friggin nuts! Didn’t really much sympathy for Tonya at the end as appeared to me that all she cared about was being in the limelight.
Good cast, decent storyline 9/10
What, pisses himself?
"But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you." Come to think of it I'm sure I heard him utter these words whilst dropping off his latest set of soiled trousers at a dry cleaners he used to frequent.
22 July, brilliant in parts, but far too long and unbelievably saggy for most of the latter 90 minutes.
It would have been better as a 2 part drama in 1 hour parts IMO.
5/10, but worth a watch.
Breivik is a total dick.
Guardian Angel 0/10
Danish film, scandi being my thing - with a number of scandi stars in it - ticks a lot of boxes. Historical movie too for the win...
Turned it off after 15 mins, dog shit... part of the problem was actors who made their name in Denmark, talking danish - speaking English in a danish film.
Still cannot work out if it was a comedy, social satire or sci-fi.
Very meh.. 5.5/10
Watched a bunch lately:
The Meg - 3/10
Big shark, shit film. The script is absolute cack.
300: Rise of an Empire - 6/10
A shadow of the original.
The Wolverine - 7/10
Pretty decent even if the final 20 minutes were daft.
Hotel Artemis - 6/10
Riot-torn L.A. A hotel/ER for criminals. Jodie Foster. Jeff Goldblum. Dave Bautista. Sterling K. Brown. Not bad.
Ant-Man - 6.5/10
Ant-Man & The Wasp - 6/10
The first had better jokes. Both were decent but nothing special.
First Man. Just left the cinema now. Superb piece of film making. 10/10.
