Stewards

For told to sit down with 91 minutes on the clock. ST in east stand (I know!) and on the end of the row and cant see 70% of the pitch once people start going. Can't see a bat and everyone stands because of it. Explained my position and was told if I can't see to go and watch it on TV on the concourse!!!

Was told if i stand again i would be ejected! Never known anything like in 20 years of us having a season ticket and don't know what to say. Game spoilt to perfectly honest.

Sit with my 70 odd year old dad and he was about to throw his flask at the fuckers.

Re: Stewards

The stewards act like . However, they are only being told what to do by the club.

It is the club who make the rules - the stewards ,regardless of how dumb most of them are, just tow the line

It would appear that a fair few people are fed up to the eye teeth of the way they are treated by the stewards.

Has this behaviour actually been put forward to the club on a rational basis? I'm sure Mr Short would like to know if his 'paying' fans were being treated like second class citizens, after all its his money that stands to be driven away by these infexible bastards. This is a regular theme every week, I don't mind them playing by the rules - but it's gotta work both ways. I'd like to see their terms of reference and training package pertaining the way they interface with the customer - you guys on the terraces......pound to a pinch of poo it doesn't say behave like a power crazy meglomaniac ans treat everyone with distain. Someone needs to form a working group and address this matter...

But there is a way to speak to people, blunt ignorance is not acceptable.

Nine times out of ten there havin to have a go at gobby booze fuelled screaming blokes. however i know what you mean but then again you have to look at the people employed to be stewards. also as said before tbey are only carrying out the directives the club has to work within.

I'm in the south I stood all game but for five minutes about half an hour in. Steward came and told us to sit down. A few people didn't and he took their season ticket details. We all stood up after he'd gone and remained standing all game. No one said owt

Re: Stewards

True - but the club employ them so the club are ultimately responsible

Well it needs taking to the club.........sit and moan or do something about it. There's more than enough intelligent people out there capable drafting a rational argument and moving things forward. ;)

this, stood all game where i was without a bit of bother, the only problem was some bloke kicking off at some 14 year old kids for standing because his son might not be able to see.

Good point mate, however they are also employed to provide a service to the customer, not dish out abuse when they're threaders. I'd love to see their TORs and training specs, probably not worth the paper they're written on. ;)

Not being funny mate but never known anything like it at a home game.

Left a horrible feeling. I totally appreciate they may be doing what they are told but for fuck sake, what next....sit down if we score!!! The attitude of them too. Horrible.

The while thing wad pathetic. I will invite uncle Ellis to come and sit in my seat for the last 5 minutes of a game...at my expense(;))

Re: Stewards

Reading the varied replies on this issue it's apparent that the party line is somewhat unclear. Seems to boil down to the individual who's stewarding your area on that day as to the way you are treated, the lack of continuity and common sense just enhances peoples frustration and isolates the stewards who, in turn also become frustrated, a downward spiral ensues.........

Don't agree with that tbh. Aye the club set the rules, they have to be seen to be being completely in line with all regs but ha'way, they expect the stewards to show a bit of f***ing common sense, if the lad had stood for the last couple of minutes because his view had been obstructed and the steward had turned a blind eye would anyone have given a fuck? They just employed either a) an absolute wanker who wants to exert the one bit of "power" he has in his life or b) a stupid prick who doesn't know when to follow rules to the letter and when to say "fair enough" and move on. The club isn't to blame, the steward is
