Unbelievably Stephen King thought it was shite!

His objection was how the character of Jack was completely changed, the character of Wendy was completely changed, and spirit presence in the hotel was completely changed, and the progression of the plot was completely changed. That's pretty much the entirety of the novel.

I'm a fan of the novel and the movie but separately, they are very different.
