The Seaburn Hotel

Marriotts clearly think they are ower posh for SR6
Nice walk along the coast down there this morning with a lovely blue sky. Interesting to see a "plastic beach collections" bin/bunker down there which must be a recent addition as not noticed it last couple of weeks. Probably first time ever in seriousness but WDSC
Well there is an election coming up.

You've been misinformed. Low security bail hostel and halfway house.

One of the worst and weirdest hotels I've stayed in is a Britannia down in London. Horrible.

This is the one we stayed in, https://www.google.co.uk/search?saf...S4IsAEwAQ&biw=360&bih=573#lkt=LocalPoiReviews

the 2.8 average review is generous! Ex used to be a chef in one of the nicer ones but even that was very dated and needed modernizing, he used to say it was just full of old biddies complaining about the food but their budget was so minimal so they could barely make anything edible

If you weren't at the front every time you'd see me staying well away from the Village love ins these days
Seriously it needs to go down market not up
Empty bar ,empty restaurants and half empty hotel tells you that
Few Groupon deals and National bus trips
It was Marriott policy when the built he pool and changed the front to discourage locals
That's why it went from a popular locals bar and lounge for the old money of sr6 to a half empty bar and empty restruant
Why they don't half the size or change the format of the restaurant to make incorporate it into the bar and a gastro type pub has always baffled me
The Marriott in York has a better set up as does Leeds
Brittania hotels disaster but better than it closing
By typical that the siglion thing which has a hotel mentioned will be undermined by the main hotel in city standing empty

Most Marriots I’ve stopped in have been canny but the Sunderland one is a bit crap. Hasn’t been updated since it was built and the rooms are a bit shitty too. Nice view though.

Stayed in one of the Suites in that tower thing on the corner once , was half price on Lastminute.com , enjoyed it but it didnt really seem that “posh”.

It’s a shame that the City of Sunderland doesn’t market itself better.

Glorious beach, and the potential is massive. But Sunderland as a city has done nothing to promote the beach, there’s hardly anything there to attract visitors and the economic benefits with it.

Even the amusement park on the seafront has been long disappeared.

Went to georges Kitchen in Newcastle last night whole area was buzzing with family’s and that eating out you can’t even take the kids anywhere in Sunderland as all the places to eat are mixed in with all the areas of people getting drunk the whole city is a shambles the bottom wnd is like something out of 28 days later it’s a ghost town, we are so far behind it’s scary

Aye Newcastle hasn't any ropey bits of course
Never struggled to go for tea out with family around town

Saw The Jam there....must have been late 77 or early 78
Seaburn hall as in the Beer Kellar, different place
