The rich are killing the planet

A new report says the world's wealthiest 1% produce double the combined carbon emissions of the poorest 50%, according to the UN.

The wealthiest 5% alone – the so-called “polluter elite” - contributed 37% of emissions growth between 1990 and 2015.

What can we do to stop this?

Those are stark statistics. About time something was done.

G7 should get together and come up with some way of curbing 1% and the rest of us . No point in having $10b if you cannot set foot in USA or Europe without abiding by some rules.

You're probably in the 5%

John Kerry aka Joe Biden’s climate czar owns a private yacht has the equivalent co2 emissions of 35 petrol cars and lets his family travel in government use jets.
All of them are utter hypocrites. To be honest we all are but the little fella will do fuck all if someone is allowed to own a yacht. Al Gore can bleat on as much as he likes but until his carbon emissions are lower than mine, I’m better for the environment. At least Greta took a sail boat. A multi million one mind.

Inconvenient Truth.

Co2 isn't killing the planet, it's essential for all life on earth to exist.

Carbon Monoxide is good for nowt.
Also, too much CO2 is bad for everyone.
You can't rely on the amazon as it's being cut down day by day.
It's also one large forest on one part of the world. You'd need something that size almost in every country to counterbalance what's being chucked into the atmosphere by humans and the things humans do.
Mass producing herds of cows creates more methane than we can cope with

How much is too much CO2?
What do we have now compared to say, 100 years ago?
It's something I always hear about but don't care enough to bother looking into it or paying enough attention

BP came up with the idea of an individual carbon footprint so individuals get blamed and not big companies.

Not to say individuals shouldn't be held responsible, particularly if they're taking the piss, but essentially you've got a company like BP digging up and selling a load of fossil fuel then blaming us for using it.

If they, and the other companies doing the same, had more focus on an alternative rather than a massive profit maybe we'd be looking at greener methods of transportation sooner than we are.

That's what pisses me off do much about the like of Bill Gates. Tells everyone to stop using planes so much, whilst at the same time hes investing billions into private jet companies.

Should give everyone on the planet an annual carbon credit. Then if the Rich need to spend more they buy them from a carbon exchange that the poor people can sell in. Then money flows from rich countries to poor countries. Surely Elon Musk could sort out the technical aspects.
