It's all a stormtrooper in a teacup mate. Context is important! Someone had just asked them to 'put your hand up if you want a kebab!'Remove all context from the discussion, that's your winning strategy is it?

You were the one saying the actions of the queen mother were causing your skin to crawl, 80 odd years after the event. Now you're making light of it.It's all a stormtrooper in a teacup mate. Context is important! Someone had just asked 'put your hand up if you want a kebab!'
The thing is, they were all nazi sympathisers or appeasers to some extent.
Even Bertie didn't want to fight the Germans. After all they were family. Plus the Germans really wanted to fight the commies who had just killed off a chunk of his relatives in Russia.
Slimy Sun editor was just on the news there saying it was an important historical documentWhat has surprised me most about this, is that this is clearly directed at embarrassing the Queen. All of the others in the film are dead, Edward was always known as a Nazi sympathiser, so this is geared at harming the Queen. Why? What piece of shit decided to put this into the public domain and what did they want to gain from it?
I think the Sun should be compelled to reveal who gave them this film and what they received in exchange for it. Transparency and accountability, remember?
That may have been true during the First Workd War, but it certainly wasn't the case during the second.
He should have stuck to his guns. As you point out, self-preservation would have to be a factor but it's not something you really want to see from someone who was an adult at the time. I can never get to grips with whether there and brains in the royal family anyway so it could be they were just a bit stupid. Of course, it's all pretty irrelevant and, even as a lefty, I can't work up much antipathy towards Ma'am.You were the one saying the actions of the queen mother were causing your skin to crawl, 80 odd years after the event. Oh, I'm very clear about what happened, mate. Nothing I can add. If you wish to justify her actions cos of what happened to the Romanovs 1500 miles away, I will smile quietly and go about my day.You were the one saying the actions of the queen mother were causing your skin to crawl, 80 odd years after the event. I'm more intrigued about the reptile side of things.
It's a PR error, but if you shine a light on anyone long enough, mistakes occur. They are human, its part of the appeal. It's probably the single biggest advantage monarchy has over a polished politician as a head of state. People love them as much for their mistakes as their virtueHe should have stuck to his guns. I don't expect any human being to be a paragon of virtue constantly. This whole news story will increase the nations love of the House of Windsor, I'd say. Off you pop.Oh, I'm very clear about what happened, mate. Nothing I can add. Does anyone else else feel their skin crawl watching the Queen Mum (God Bless her, salt of the Earth and advocate for the bombed out poor of the East End) laughingly encouraging her children to make a Fascist salute in 1933? By 1933 Hitler's ambitions were widely known, 17m Germans had voted for him as leader of the NSDP and he was the new Chancllor of the Weimar Republic. Plenty there for her to be happy about. The young children on the other hand are simply that: innocent children.
I take your point but I think they'll face a real challenge with the passing of QEII (not the ship). Although the alternative of some knacka President doesn't hold a lot of appeal. It's a PR error, but if you shine a light on anyone long enough, mistakes occur. They are human, its part of the appeal. I think not.I think we are fed "images" of the wealthy and powerful by the media but those images are often far from the truth. For example try Googling "Ghandi racist and paedophile" to see what I mean.
There is something brilliantly unhinged in that post. They're no better than the Leicester players who filmed themselves being racist.
If you're so stupid to do that, keep the evidence and lose it, then any defence is irrelevant.
Allow it to go out of your possession and people will look at it and pass various opinions ........... that's life as Esther used to say.
People will always look at oddly shaped vegetables and laugh.
When the time comes, if Nicola Sturgeon is anywhere near the republic campaign, folks will come out for the Windsors.I take your point but I think they'll face a real challenge with the passing of QEII (not the ship). Although the alternative of some knacka President doesn't hold a lot of appeal.
Don't spoil our entente cordiale. When the time comes, if Nicola Sturgeon is anywhere near the republic campaign, folks will come out for the Windsors.
I would love to know why. A couple of kids doing Nazi salutes in the 1930s long before it was generally known just what antics they were getting up to in Germsny.
