Bayliss got the job because Strauss wanted to get better at one-day stuff. Well, we have got better. There's no real need to get shot of Bayliss straight-away, although I think I read he wants out having done his stint anyway but we need a coach that concentrates of Test cricket. We have a one day team and a mostly separate Test team, time maybe for a separate one-day head coach and a Test head-coach.
Vaughan has some suggestions in his latest article which mostly come down to better flatter Test pitches - and he references Trent Bridge saying pitch like that in 2015 give the wrong lesson to bowlers. But .... as far as I saw the Trent Bridge pitch didn't have much to do with what happened, the wickets fell trough swing and that's generated by the atmosphere not the pitch.
Also, the Trent Bridge pitch the previous year against the Indians was flatter as owt and in the bright sunshine there was no swing and that match was criticised as being boring (by the likes of Botham) - can't win.
