There’s have been even more outrage from Sky TV if it had been given. Saying it was never a pen. They make money out of controversy and outrage. It was reckless as fuck though. He booted their lad in the air in the box. I feel as if it's a pen and would be given if the ref saw it on the monitor.
Just my opinion and I can see why people wouldn't give it but I'd be screaming if it was the other way round.
That was no worse a decision than that free kick given against Wyke at the end of the 1st half, which luckily came to nothing. The Portsmouth Supporters should be just as annoyed at the fact their back 4 royally screwed up the subsequent passage of play.If I were them, I’d be more annoyed they didn’t get a free kick 10 seconds before we scored our 2nd.![]()
You're not talking about the same incident as everyone else.Ref was spot on it was a dive, kicked the ball realised he had missed so fell over, not even Sunday morning standard

He was a typical League 1 ref, tried to let it flow in parts, made some good decisions, followed by some bizarre ones.
They want the neutral to keep watching. It was game over at 2 0The pundits bar SKP and the commentators were begging for Portsmouth to score, fuck them.
Yeah, that should be their biggest gripe. The 1st penalty shout was either a dive, or Marquis tripped himself and then claimed for it. I've seen that from several angles and can't see any contact at all.Think it’s clear that Flanagan got the ball, unless the Portsmouth player is booting the ball back 30 yards when running into our box. In my opinion, he does catch him on the follow through though which runs the risk of the penalty. 50/50 in this league.

Does the Portsmouth player make contact with the ball? It looks like he misses it and runs into our playerPortsmouth player toe pokes the ball (watch spin of ball change)
Flanagan is commited in hoofing it so ends toeing it away as ball not where he was expecting it
Flanagan follows through into Portsmouth player
Penna? VAR would have given it for sure but soft as fuck and definitely one of those where you say it should go for your team

I just burst out laughing at this![]()
Yeah, he toe-ends the ball onto Flanagan's foot, which is why he slices his clearance sideways. Flanagan obviously then kicks through the player. He could have given it, but he didn't. I think there had been VAR, whether the ref had given it or not, I'm not sure VAR would have overturned it. I think it probably is a penalty, but I don't think it is a clear and obvious error in not giving it. The referee could justify not giving that.Does the Portsmouth player make contact with the ball? It shouldnt have been a corner before the 2nd Penalty apply. The 1st with Marquis was never a penalty, he drove when he should have took a shot the berkYeah, that should be their biggest gripe. The 2nd one with Flanagan could have been given for the reckless nature of a clumsy half-sliced hoof that gets ball and man. But that's one of those that if you're the attacker, you think it is a foul, and if you're the defender, you're not happy if it is given.
But the McGeady one, right before they ballsed up the throw in, was an absolutely blatant foul. He just pushes him in the back, and they're given 9/10. But I'm delighted about it, because they've been a horrible, dirty team to play against, and some of the fans have been Category A tw&ts, including several of them physically assaulting one of our players during a game. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. Also, pi55 off Curtis for attempting fake outrage at an incident that never actually happened, to get Sanderson sent off. Play up Pompey...
Aye he does but I'm watching on a big screen and better quality video than the gifs and possibly watching on a phone/tablet. Watch the spin of the ball stop when his foot hits the ball. Some still can't see it, which is understandable but it's there if you look close enough and explained here in detail in this post. Though the touch is irrelevant as it was a genuine clearance attempt and Flanagan cleared it for a throw in IIRC, albeit a sliced kickDoes the Portsmouth player make contact with the ball? The good thing is we didn't have a ref getting suckered in by the Portsmouth player reaction as in real time with 1 view it would be impossible to see the touch even though the ref had a great view, even doing the squat pose as he watched it![]()
I can’t understand why it’s still rattling on. Ref didn’t give it. No penalty. Or am I missing something. So many experts![]()
Me neither. Not even sure about the freekick before our second. He lost the ball being off balance and stumbled into McGeady's path nothing McGeady could do at that point. Not a pen for me at all.
If they hadn’t spent most of the match up until that point diving around and constantly whinging then the ref might have given them the benefit of any doubt.Me neither.
