The next manager - we have to get this right

I have just read that 6 of the players that outclassed and outran City on Wednesday were in the last Villa starting 11 under Gerrard.

What makes the difference?
The manager and clever signings, the latter being dependent on the former. Some people argue that managers only make a 10% difference in performance - I do not believe this to be the case.

Speakman and Dreyfus, please get it right for once.
Here's hoping.

P.s. it is not for me to say who - I'm not being handsomely paid to know these things.
I don’t agree with Mowbray sacking but can’t see how they haven’t got it right once?

Both Neil and Mowbray turned out to be good appointments.

Is there any sign of a new manager?
only Sunderland can do a Sunderland - sack the manager with no thoughts, plans or deals in place? What was the point?

sheff utd sacked and hired a new manager on the same day for fucks sake?

I think we need a new owner and board, never mind a new manager!

Yeah but look who they hired ffs - i prefer to wait for Kyril to get it right and review all decent options

We don't have to get it right, though.

The sun will still rise, Tories will still be ****s, the world will go on... 😉

But we're doing the right thing in our attempts. A progressive young owner, looking to find a progressive young manager to progress a young squad. It will be a gamble, since the chosen candidate will be young and inexperienced, but they're doing due diligence and being bold.

Good for me.

All of this!

This is the biggest free hit we've ever had in my lifetime when looking for a new head coach in my opinion. Usually relegation or promotion is riding on it. I think we're 95% likely to be a Championship club next year, no matter who we appoint.

So in that sense we can be incredibly bold and gamble on someone who's potential is huge and look past safe options.

Im not greedy as I know it’d take a state takeower of a provincial club in an impoverished area to rule English football and that’s not the way I want SAFC to be. All I’m asking for is a 10yr+ type appointment. A minor Busby, Fergie, Stein, Bill Nick, Shankly, Cloughie, Wenger, Revie* type. Someone who gets us into the PL in a couple of years then gets us into regular top12 finishing positions going deep into the cups. The occasional Wembley and/or European trip anarl. Then when they leave Paisley to step in and carry it on.
As I say I’m not asking for the moon on a stick. I don’t think any of us are.
