The next manager - we have to get this right

Interesting to hear Mike Dodds in the presser saying that the owners are interviewing?
No itk info coming out at all is surprising ?
Unless I’ve missed it ?
Good in many ways that we don’t know I suppose and are playing it tight

Is there any sign of a new manager?
only Sunderland can do a Sunderland - sack the manager with no thoughts, plans or deals in place? What was the point?

sheff utd sacked and hired a new manager on the same day for fucks sake?

I think we need a new owner and board, never mind a new manager!
Lot of nonsense.

We don't have to get it right, though.

The sun will still rise, Tories will still be ****s, the world will go on... 😉

But we're doing the right thing in our attempts. A progressive young owner, looking to find a progressive young manager to progress a young squad. It will be a gamble, since the chosen candidate will be young and inexperienced, but they're doing due diligence and being bold.

Good for me.

This appointment feels different to when Neil and Mowbray were hired. Neil was hired to get us out of League One and Mowbrays remit was to consolidate in the Championship.
With us essentially overachieving last year the goalposts have been shifted somewhat. If there's a 5 year plan to get us to the Premier League you'd think that this next appointment is not going to be a stop gap hire and that we'll go all out to land the man that the board believes has the ability to take us to the Premier League in the next 2 or 3 seasons. Let's hope they make the right call.

If they have interviewed 7, and I dont think they could have in the time since effectively Tuesday (unless they started after Huddesfield) then that gives me more confidence than just 2 being on the shortlist.

Life can only be understood backwards but must be lived forwards. Wise words (in paraphrased translation) attributed to Søren Kierkegaard. The only problem with this is that it renders discussions pretty much redundant, ha, ha.
But Kierkegaard is philosophy to slash your wrists to. Sums up as "Life's a complete bastard, and then it gets worse.

"Get it right for once" , it could be argued that they got the two appointments so far "right". Neil got us up and Mowbray ,more than steadied the ship.

Maybe I should have worded it differently - the last 2 appointments have been by no means a disaster - what I would like however is that for once we find a manager that can really move us on during 3 or 4 years and make that quantum leap of quality, in the same way that Potter or Howe did at Brighton and Bournemouth. No easy task I know, but here's hoping and praying.
I love this board! I bet there's not another football forum in the land that has people quoting Kierkegaard! Chapeau!
You don't need Kierkegaard to say it's easy to be wise after the event.
