The new houses being built down Burdon Lane

all 3 blocks ?

Pretty sure. Even the swimming pool. It’s pretty much exactly the same design as Kepier at Houghton
Doctors surgery aswell I think. I much prefer the ones up the potters hill end mind.the 3 estates up there are spot on.

We’ve got our eye on the Duchy’s just getting built up there. That build is going to be huge. If you look on their webpage, the site plan only shows phase 1. Phase 2 is 8 times as big!

2 grand at a guess for a new house at those prices and a couple of cars on tick or lease before you start paying for anything else. You’re either on a fortune or living hand to mouth given wages up here
if you're in there as a couple pulling in £5k between you - still leaves you with upwards of £2k a month once the other household bills are factored in

Doubt there’s a large number of people pulling that amount in after tax. Combined salary of about £85,000

What’s that a year each before tax? There’ll be some no doubt at all but I’d bet most are living a lot closer to the bone than that, especially when you factor in this time of the year for spending. Holiday abroad for example must need a few hundred a month tucked away

House prices are absolutely daft. 300k plus for a new build 4 bed. The wheels are already coming loose, my own house has lost about 5k in the last couple months. On one hand I can afford where I am and it’s decent on the other I’m pissed off I didn’t move before the pandemic (not my fault like) as I’d have got more house for same money.

Makes me a bit miffed that the likes of east shore village went up 2003/2004 for chicken feed compared to what you need to get one now. There’s much better elsewhere like but you’re looking at 305k for some half decent chicken n a newish estate.
Where are you getting the lost 5 figure from ?;
Those value websites are like weather reports

I'd say a lot are couples on the ladder trading up
If you're 2 houses in and bought well you will be just topping up a bit
I know people who could have pulled back and been mortgage free but they want bigger better as they age
If they built the same house at the same price in Hendon, would they buy them then? Crazy prices for the NE
My house was new in 2011
They were building in 3 locations
Durham City was 100k more ,exact same kip

Farringdon secondary school is being knocked down?
Never even knew this. Nice for the bairn to have a fairly new school close by then. 👍
