The Model Works

There is no guarantee that Stewart wil recover completely from his injury and regain his previous performance level, the fact he hasn’t signed a new contract leaves the club little option but to sell him. I think Southampton are taking a huge risk on him regaining his previous form but I feel sorry he’s leaving us.

Regardless of any "model", there's no club that is going to reject Β£10m for a player who would leave for nothing in less than 12 months, after he has been unavailable for 37 of the last 50 games due to injuries.

It’s the clubs own fault/mismanagement that meant he only had 12 months left. If they’d put a proper contract on the table for him when we were promoted, that cliff edge would have disappeared. As it is the fucked about, and gambled on things going a certain way. And here we are.

There is so much wrong with that statement that it's difficult to know where to start.

Made Β£9m+ on Stewart
Might make Β£5m on Roberts

Neither were in the squad at the weekend and we got a draw against a team how’ve spent huge and are expected to be top 6 minimum.

Will make future profits on Clarke, Hume, Ballard, Cirkin, Bellingham, Ekwah, Patterson, Rigg, Neil etc.

Still time for some additions and a more than capable manager at the helm.

Might not be the quick fire progress some are looking for but it’s a healthy way to run a club and a business.
Weren't in the squad cause there injured ya loon

Agreed.

I can half understand them wanting to recoup the money they’ve had to put in, but at the same time, Promotion would bring so much more.

I don’t get this whole β€œnot until 202X…we’re not ready”. I mean what does that even mean?
Exactly. Brighton spent a fortune in order to become "sustainable" as did Bournemouth, Wolves, Fulham etc. Burnley spent far more than 10 times other Championship clubs did last season and are now trying to be self-sufficient. Even Brenford were paying Β£5m for players from League One level before promotion.

Ah, there’s an unwritten rule on here where you can’t mention Brighton spending.

Then if you continue you get told it was mostly for the stadium etc (it’s still money in!).

I've banged-on anout this a few times of late but, Brighton's Chairman was on SSN the other week, talking about Caicedo leaving and was non-plussed. He said they sign players when they "want" instead of when they "need" them - therefore they pay far less by replacing well in advance and are in pole position to sell for the price they want.
Imagine that?

It's code for, we haven't got a pot to piss in πŸ‘
Which still doesn’t make an iota of sense, if they were serious and wanted the big bucks.

Forward thinking.
That’s all any successful business needs. Be one step ahead at all times.

What is a "proper contract" as opposed to an improper contract? What are the details of this improper contract you imply?
