decent bloke who would have learnt from last season and deserves another chance....simple really
I liked him to begin with, and still want him to do well, but I'm not convinced by that mind. Last season was a long season, and the back end of it suggested he'd learnt bugger all to be honest.

Not convinced he fully deserves it neither.

This.

However I’m still not convinced by his comments on the two signings mind. When asked about their qualities all he could really muster was they were positions we needed to strengthen and they were interested and out of contract. While that’s all true and in itself not a bad thing, it just didn’t strike me as two players we’ve scouted and “desperately wanted”. They were seemingly just available, out of contract and in positions we needed. There was nothing “personal” about the players that made us want “them”.

It’s more to do with our scouting than anything Ross has done wrong mind. Just set a few alarm bells ringing and that we still haven’t changed our scouting process.

Let’s see, time will tell on that.

Maybe Ross just hasn’t been very involved in the recruitment process? Wishful thinking maybe.

On the other hand, Norwich kept on a manager who'd finished mid-table and romped on a tenth of what Villa spent.

But he spent the first season implementing his possession based football at a cost of drawing and losing games.

Our manager put results over performance and failed.

He comes across to me as a person that is employed and basically does what he’s told and works with what he has at his disposal.
Same here (although obviously based on very little insight).

My perception is that his biggest failing as manager thus far is not being stronger against those above him.

Well that puts alot of questions to bed..
Bad night for some people on here, they will have to make up a load of new shite and pass it off as facts now.
Like what? He's put frig all to bed and wharra surprise club boy scout Connor Bromley asks him fuck all of interest whatsoever.

He comes across to me as a person that is employed and basically does what he’s told and works with what he has at his disposal.
They've said as much on numerous occasions to be fair.

#TRANSPARENCY

One statement stood out for me was something along the lines of.. "We signed the players from the market that we are looking in" free transfers

What did you want him to say ?
Not a lot to be honest - it's an in-house interview with the manager to talk about pre-season. I just think it's a massive stretch for you to come on here saying it puts a lot of questions to bed.

For a laugh though, questions that could/should have been asked:

What interest has there been in Jon McLaughlin? Is he committed to the club? Are the club committed to retaining him?

How did Cattermole's departure come about? (We know the crack, fair enough, but it would be nice to hear the club clarify a few points, instead of saying ohh how lovely was it to work with him last season. Cos ya kna, transparency and all that.)

Can we expect any more high profile departures?

What is the contract situation with Aiden McGeady? Can you comment on the speculation? Are his wages a problem?

Where do you feel we need to strengthen? Have you got your targets? Are you confident in bringing them to the club? Have a pot to fuckin' piss in?

Imagine expecting the Manager to comment on press speculation about players leaving :lol:
Read it again numb nuts, I don't. The point is that nothing was answered as not one single question of interest was asked. Nothing was put to bed that we didn't know already. So a few players got an extra week off, so what.

There’s been loads of questions and speculation on the board in the last week regarding why we only have 4 preseason games, where McGeady is and why he wasn’t at training, whether Embleton has signed a new contract and whether Burge has been brought in as first choice or not. Answers to all those things were given.

I’d say that constitutes ‘putting a lot of questions to bed’.

I've nothing against Jack Ross and no axe to grind. whether he was unlucky at the end of the season or even during it, who knows. I've only met him twice and he has came across on both of those occasions as more pleasant lad than what I've just witnessed.
After listening carefully and watching carefully his interview, what I've taken from it, for me at least, that he was a "professional footballer" who is now a "professional manager". unfortunately he also speaks exactly the same way (obviously as a pro your taught how to do interviews) as every other "professional" in the game. Not giving anything away, not telling it straight, not upsetting other players , colleagues or tv and radio interviewers, in fact doing what I would call a "non interview". This is where you don't get the real person, real feelings, real truth just bland answers whether they are facts or just made up fiction (injuries , etc). During the course of the whole interview he doesn't look or sound happy to be back, he is not showing any real enthusiasm or emotion but he is coming across defensively and his manner is all wrong for me. He is starting, dare I say to display a few of the Moye's characteristics from when that person graced our clubs doors with his presence.

I hope I'm completely wrong , just for the clubs stability but I still say 10 games and he will not be here.
