The Mag Mirror reckons Short ready to sell....

This anti-SAFC propaganda from the Mirror since they became cosey with the Mags is so tedious

They've always been pro Mag mate. They were the only national paper I knew of (worked in a newsagents at the time) which ran the Nicolas Medina prefers to live in Newcastle rather than Sunderland story.

They also once had a double page article on SJP after its extension in 2000. They rated it the best stadium in the country and one of the best in Europe giving it 5/5. They rated the SOL 4/5 and said the capacity was 41,000 when it had just been extended to its current capacity. As if they had forgotten or deliberately not mentioned it.

Trinity Mirror who own the Mirror also own the Chronicle.

Which clubs haven't wasted a load of money? Justify Di Maria at Man U, just for one. Catastrophic buy if they weren't so rich, on your logic due to mismanagement at the top and disastrous appointments - but then they have the money to paper over the cracks and move on. There's loads of other examples at the big clubs, all disastrous appointers of their football staff by this logic. Chelsea and Liverpool have had to abandon their August plans and change managers, because of disastrous appointing. Swansea too, luckily pulling themselves out of a nosedive under the disastrously appointed Monk. And which arsehole appointed Pellegrini at City? Palace in freefall, Arsenal fans moaning about Wenger. Even Leicester had no clue their buys would work out so well. Not one person in football guessed, not even them. So how was that good management?

Are you seriously comparing our recent performance to that of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Leicester? By the end of this season all of them will have played in the CL and won at least one major trophy since Short rocked up here.....all we've done is flirt with relegation and spend a load of money embarrassing ourselves.

Consistently terrible. We are still fighting to stay in the league, he's made so many bad appointments that's it's amazing anyone thinks he is doing a good job.

We will quite likely be in the championship next season and some people wouldn't want to change. Unreal.

There's just so many I didn't want to list them all. Swansea and Palace are other good examples....both will be in the PL next season, we may not.

Nelson - would you swap Ellis for Teflon Bob or Tom Cowie??

Are they our inspiration then?

Interesting how since we were promoted for the 07-08 season that nine of the other teams are no longer in the top flight. We must be really lucky to still be here then ;)

They're among clubs who have been bought out and improved their lot. Something people on here like to pretend isn't possible as for some reason they can't cope with the idea of life after Ellis.

No, but I don't think being better than those two is a ringing endorsement. They're not the alternative anyway. I'd be happy to try something new as its clear Ellis isn't prepared to push us on having already spent so much.

They've improved their lot, but are still not in the premier league? ok.

So out of the three chairman in our lifetime you would get rid of the 'best' chairman we have seen on a gamble that whoever comes in would do better....I don't think its going to happen mate. For every Man City takeover you have a Cardiff City, Leeds United, Newcastle Utd ,

I meant Swansea and Palace.

How many of the 9 teams relegated went down because of an ownership change out of interest?
Swansea were FOTM for a while and are now poor to what they were. Palace's form has collapsed.

Those teams were relegated because of their lack of points. Their ownership doesn't interest me.

By their standards they have all (Leicester apart) failed to meet their most recent objectives and even when they were winning trophies they were able to rectify their unsuccessful appointments by throwing cash around to get the top level players and managers. And these are clubs with long lists of promising players and youth players queuing up to get into them.. They are no better run than we have been, but they can afford not to be.

But money's only part of it - really what you can't accept is that in football some things just work and some don't, as if you need someone to blame. We've had a lot not working, as have the mags and Villa. Short has seen this and tried to instigate change when needed. But you can't just say 'make better appointments' and it'll get better, because it's impossible to know which will work. Does the name Moyes ring a bell? Pretty much appointed on the say-so of the most highly respected manager ever in the PL. Total flop.

I would have more respect for your position if it wasn't all hindsight. People on here should say if they're for or against an appointment at the time it's made with no waffling or hedging, like the club has to.

Those don't count in Nelson world though

It's been 8 years of failing to push us on though and constantly fixing his own errors, in the short term, with more errors.

At what point does he become responsible?

Maybe it's a case of ambition. I believe we might end up better off with a different owner.....some people would rather stick with the devil they know even tho he is failing.

Those don't count in Nelson world though

The irony. I've stated there are plenty of examples of bad takeovers.....there's many more good ones than people will admit tho. I even pointed them out and you didn't like it.

Even the ones you thought backed up your point are currently better placed than us.

He's already admitted to his failings man

What do you define as ambition?

Even the ones you thought backed up your point are currently better placed than us.
They are hardly inspirational though.

All you've done is list current FOTM clubs. Not too long ago Fulham were someone we should have been trying to emulate.......

Yeah we just might mate you never know. What a great reason to change. Spin the bottle. Stick a pin in the Sunday Times rich list or whatever cos we're the peach hanging on the football tree aren't we?

Got no problem with Short but he has employed idiots to do the day to day running of the club, how much money have we wasted through letting a director of football make signings? you could probably put two sides out with the shite we have signed in recent years and have barely made a first team apperance

Why would short want to sell

With the biggest tv deal coming up wether we stay in the premiership or not

He'll be making money Surley

Mirror not had one positive article about Sunderland all year.

Just an awful scummy paper with people like Simon Bird and Mcnally writing for them
The Mirror would not be my bog paper of choice lads & lasses!!!!
