The Local Media

Perhaps the Echo are ignoring your predicament after the way in which you lot publicly harangued a local reporter of theirs because he had tenuous connections with Newcastle.
His tenuous connections were the comments he made about the club and its supporters.
Kettle Pot Black if the boot was on the other foot

Tenuous connections?..... Did you actually see the numerous posts going back years sagging off and taking the piss out of his now subject matter?

Rainton Bridge is probably as near to Durham City centre as it is to Sunderland centre.
So what Echo covers them both

Rainton Bridge isnt in Sunderland which is the point. No it doesnt the paper is an irrelevance no one pays for its content or buys a copy it will go in a few years time. The non sport journalism is rubbish it is just a crime magazine and obituary report.
Yeah right i would like to see the same situation play out at the Chronicle or Journal. People from Wearside running their papers or writing on NUFC it simply wouldnt be tolerated or be allowed to happen as they know people would kick off. The Echo and other local media have been blowing smoke up the arse of the club for far too long and this week with Bain is another example.
Rainton Bridge is in the City of Sunderland mate. Digital content means people don’t have to pay is all about numbers and advertising. How come you think it just has crime and obtiturary content if you never read it? There is loads more content in it - the culture and local guides are very informative and clued up.

The Echo are speaking the truth about Bain he was brought in to cut costs and that is what he is doing. Don’t see why people have beef with him he has been transparent and spoken to the supporters through the Echo many times.

Living away from the North East i read alot of online newspaper articles and i have to say the standard on the whole is pretty poor both national and in particular the international newspapers. In the nationals other than Caulkin and Taylor the quality is awful.

You have to be running the latest superfast processor deluxe with top end fibre optic broadband just to get the Echo website to load.

Then once you get a page up, about 20 secs of reading in, it starts loading a new pop up ad for a laugh.

And that's before we start on the new wheeze of demanding user register just to view the site.

Its because it was quite predictable with our summer business and managerial appointment. Everything surrounding the club says apathy. Senior officials, management, players, supporters, local media; its everywhere. Its almost total resignation to our position. There is a stinking malaise and only something drastic will change it. The current board and management team haven't got the electricity in them to shock us back into life.

We lack dynamism at every level

A wonderful metaphor (I think) there Marra. Well said!

I was replying to Keybuk they made the comment tenuous link. My comment was about if someone had made the same comments about the Mags their toys would have been out of the cot.

The Sheffield Echo is not worth a second glance at now. Not like the old days.. It is a pathetic imitation of what used to be a very good read..and the price, have you seen the price for buying what is ostensibly a bunch of adverts.. I'd rather read the telephone book.
